Default 2021 Genesis G80

Oh hell yes...

2.5 turbo 4 with 300hp
3.5 tt 6 with 400hp

According to the interview of Genesis Boss Manfred Fitzgerald with Car and Driver, he finally confirmed.

“We will have a brand-new G80 coming out this September in Korea and subsequently on global markets. With that car, you will see the next evolution of our design language,” Fitzgerald added.

What we know so far?

The next-generation design philosophy of Genesis, which was introduced on the Essentia concept and also with GV80 SUV concept car will be applied on the new G80. The new G80 will feature a slim body design inspired by the coupe with a fully separated quad LED healights system, a pentagonal crest front grille, a low, long side profile line and a sporty rear view design.

The big improvement will come in the powertrain side, while the Hyundai Motor Group will give it all with the introduction of two new engine families. First will be the 2.5-liter and 4-cylinder Theta III engine offered with Twin-Turbo system and with a final output of 300 hp. The 3.3-liter gasoline twin-turbo engine in the high-performance G80 Sport is expected to be change for a new 3.5-liter Lambda III engine delivering up to 400 horsepower.

G70 with this 3.5TT would be a hoot.

The new G80 uses weight reduction technology to reduce weight.
Whatever that means LOL

Looks like a viable GS replacement. God know the ES was a complete disappointment in that department

So will they not have a v8 option in the new version?

Too bad, love the V8 soundtrack, but this 3.5TT appears to reduce having to have the 3.3TT and 5.0

Lots of heaviness. In AWD trim the G80 is quite portly.

To the stupid 4 cylinder, why do they keep saddling larger lux cars with 4 cylinders?
For what looks to be no 8 cylinder option.
For a 400hp ttV6.

Unfortunately they are just doing the me too 4 cylinder base, 6 cylinder top option. What made Genesis and the G80 unique was they still carried 6 cylinder base cars with 8 cylinder options, one of the reasons I think the G80 sold pretty well. I really hope they don't tack on a big premium for the 6 cylinder like most lux makers are doing these days which leaves most buyers often stuck with a crappy 4 cylinder in their 50K lux cars. I remember hope they did not turn the interior into a barren touchscreen/mouse menu nightmare either but unfortunately that seems to be the trend too. Proportions look pretty decent from camo.

the mainstream mercedes E class comes with a turbo 4 that's very pleasant, if not neck-snapping (there bigger engines for that).

blame the tree huggers.

i don't think so, i bet they sold almost no V8s.

you've repeated these views many times, and it just doesn't seem there's any modern luxury vehicle that's going to appeal to you.

3.5 sounds nice! Hopefully lands just in time for me to upgrade to a refreshed Stinger!

I'd rather see the engine in the new Palisade / Telluride. 0-60 in the 5s for a huge SUV would be awesome
