I agree. For the calendar year Lexus has sold 668 LC's. I don't think Lexus is worried about losing market share to the C8. BMW M and Porsche Cayman/911 will lose more than Lexus to GM.

To add, CR also shows a negative report card for the Corvette.
No worries, thanks for the info

heat-soak sure, it generates massive power thus heat. But the engine failure is surprising considering the 6.2L seems tried and true.

Anybody hear from I8ABMR? The C8 seems like the perfect car for him. He went from the BMWs, Infiniti G, LS460 (iirc) and IS F, to the Camaro ZL1. And he tracks the latter two.

Yes, that was my thought at first, too....it's a pretty reliable block. Apparantly, it is not failure as we usually imagine it, but accumulated damage from heat-soak. Here's the lawsuit, with more of the details, from GMAuthority:

There is also a class-action suit for defective wheels on the Gran Sport and Z06:

Any 6.2 liter engine like the C8, would probably overheat without a oil cooler when driven as a proper sports car. Not all 5 liter engines like my RCF come equipped with a oil cooler. You might assume Lexus equipped my 5 liter RCF with an oil cooler for reliability, not necessity!

I know exactly what GM does or doesn't do worked on many of their vehicles, have followed the auto industry for a long time and seen GM makes some of the worst death traps ever sold to the public. The company went bankrupt, remember?

For any GM product especially a new model the default is wait to see if it holds up, which it probably wont.

GM didnt exactly do a great job with the last C7, lot of overheating issues not just the Z06. I'll be skeptical of the C8 because of this. This car has the potential to be an early adopters nightmare considering the blemished performance of the C7 and this all new everything on the C8. Yea the C7 was cheap for the performance, but it skimped on some major things. I really hope they learned their lesson this time around.

GM really really really needs to hit this out of the park considering they are losing in other areas: Ram is eating up Sierra and Silverado sales wise, and the camaro is dead soon.

I am a die hard Viper and Supra guy and never liked the Corvette but this is impressive and good looking.

The only thing I don't like is the spoiler, if there is a way to delete that it is a winner in my opinion.
on the C7 if you didnt have the Z51 package and you tried to track it, it overheats especially if you have the auto. I would expect the same with this. Those coolers that Z51 gives you is a must. 60k spec would be good for putt putting around town and going to car meets, but not any track work.
