LOL, you can order whatever options you want on the C8 or not at all - but sure, on the dealer lots base models will be scarce - again, as Bit said - this is nothing new.

My local Chevy/Buick/GMC dealership (and they are one of the largest GM shops on the East Coast) says they are not getting any mid-engine 'Vettes at all on a simple routine-delivery basis. Every one will apparantly be special-ordered by specific customers. I didn't even see a demo in stock for test-drives.

VIN 001 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray Coupe sells for $3 million at Barrett-Jackson auction
As Chevrolet prepares to start production of the 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray, it auctioned off the very first one at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Saturday. VIN 001 hammered for $3 million, a whole lot more than the C8's base price of $59,995. But all that extra money isn't just for bragging rights. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Detroit Children's Fund, a nonprofit organization focused on increasing the quality of schools and education in the Detroit area.
While the car at the actual auction is painted red, it's just a placeholder. The real No. 001 hasn't been built yet, but Chevrolet says it'll be a fully loaded black-on-black coupe in 3LT spec equipped with the Z51 package. This build echoes the final C7 Corvette, which was a black-on-black Z06 coupe that sold for $2.7 million last fall. The auction winner will be able to pick the 'Vette up at Chevy's Bowling Green, Kentucky, factory and get a tour of the Corvette museum. The winner will also receive artwork of the car and a certificate of authenticity.
After being delayed due to the UAW strike, production C8 Corvettes should finally start rolling off the assembly line soon, with first deliveries expected to happen in March. Chevy says that while the 2020 model year of the car hasn't officially sold out yet, the company has received over 37,000 reservations for the car -- and that might not include the convertible, as order books just opened for the droptop model this week.

There are probably some customer dynamics at play here, perhaps with folks who are willing to put down a deposit with an out-of-state dealer and commit to paying full sticker for a car they won't receive for 6+ months perhaps being more apt to go option heavy; and this might not hold true once the C8 is actually generally available. But it's interesting regardless.
When I finally get around to it, mine will be a 3LT convertible, so it's not like I'll be off this trend.
Edit: went back and watched the video. The reason there was only a single 1LT is because of build constraints. The first few months of orders, 1LT was not available. Likely this one is going to GM, and not to a customer. There are a few color options that were constrained as well, so those are not accurately represented in these numbers. We will have to wait until much later in the model year to get numbers that actually represent real order distribution.

Just wait 2-3yrs and those $80k + C8s will be collecting dust at dealers and you will easily buy them for $60k.
Same trend happened with C7 and every other hyped up mass produced sports car!
Chevy will be building a ton of these things. Personally i want to wait for GrandSport model and see what major issues occur with this thing. Also the rear Camaro lights are a big turnoff.

IMO, apples and oranges....for several reasons. One, the C7, unpile the C8, was not a totally new, radically-different design by Corvette standards. Two, the C7 was not special-order/limited production only. Third....the C7 did not have the kind of price-markups the C8 brings And Fourth, the C7 did not sell out anywhere near as quick.....from what I understand, the whole 2020 run is already sold, and they aren't taking any more orders.

.............that was because of pressure on the designers to get the mid-engine Corvette finished. Bob Lutz said that the last Corvette (C7) would have been mid-engine except that the budget for it dried up, and it was delayed a number of years. So the C7 was introduced as a compromise.
