I thought I saw a 2020 Vette drive by when I was golfing over the weekend. I was kind of far from the road so I couldn't make out the details, at first it looked like a Vette but with more mid engine proportions, then it kind of looked like a R8 but the rear then looked like the new Vette, it was silver. Not sure if they are on the road yet, it looked okay from what I saw but more of a mish mash of cars, not something that stood out.
My local GM shop told me, today, that they currently have 44 C8s on order, waiting for them, but that they would arriving before long. I was there today test-driving a new Encore GX.
give it about a year and they will be a dime a dozen
I doubt it....not this time, particularly the way GM is selling it. Unlike past Corvettes, the C8 is special-order only. Each one is custom-built to the buyer's personal taste...within the option-sheet limitations.

No, they are not special-order only. There are dealers out there already selling ones they ordered for inventory, at a huge mark up. And they don't last long.
It's still ordered with the same 1LT, 2LT, 3LT packages as before with a few more customization. GM is even adding a second shift at Bowling Green to crank them out. They will be everywhere, including my garage.

Perhaps in your area....in mine, dealerships apparently can't get any for inventory.

Because they have already filled their allocation due to demand. Many chose to fill all their allocation with preorder at MSRP, but they weren't/aren't required to have a custom order from a customer. Dealers don't get to order as many Corvettes as they want either. The bigger, better performing dealerships get more allocations for the Vette, while smaller dealers get fewer.
And, like I said, GM added a second shift at Bowling Green, so after this initial preorder wave, there will be plenty floating around.

it will be like any other corvette in the past, big demand for the new one then after 2 years no one cares about it because they make as many as they want. Wonder how bad they are going to discount leftover C7s when this thing is out.
