Probably a wise move. Even conventional GM products often have initial teething problems....likely even more so for something as radical of a new design as this.

Of course I'd take one too, but I really wonder what's the market now on a C7 7-man....I thought list on C8 didn't go up so that would seemingly crush the C7....

edit just jumping on autotrader 11-15k off list like shooting fish in a barrel? Some base cars in the 40's (is this a come on?) and Z51s $59k @ $15k off.....be even more curious then used....that's new....imagine choosing between a Z51 and a 4 cyl 330i lol (out the door one would still think the 330i is less)

another interesting thing, say I looked at a base stick 1LT asking $46,111--it was mfg. 4/19, so sitting for almost a year. With the recession, it may be sitting some more.

Oh I love the C7. Give me a stick shift C7 and I'd be happy as a clam. C7 looks way better. I could imagine the clutch and shifter on one of those...mated to that monster V8. Mmmmmm.

I was looking earlier, and I love tires and brakes. With that being said, I need a Grand Sport, not a base or Z51 (talk about a beggar becoming a chooser!!). Because the base and Z51 have 20's on the rear and 19's on the fronts like the grand sport, but 285/245, whereas the Grand Sport gets 335/285's. No way I can not get the beefy rubber!! The manual Vette I drove at Great Adventure where Chevy had a setup was not the Grand Sport, the auto was.

The consolation prize is my 335i has the same tires as the Vette only not the runflat version. One can dream!

I'm not worried about teething problems. It won't be a daily driver. I'm just going to put that cash in the market and hopefully it will be back up by then. Let all the irrational fear and chaos help pay for it.

For sure.

I don't dislike the C8 but it looks like a generic Ferrari or McLaren.

Haven't seen one in person yet, one of my friends that owns a shop ordered one with his dad and once they get it in will check it out. I did watch a few videos of TJ Hunt picking his up, driving back getting exhaust etc..I thought the exhaust video was pretty cool (See below). Looks like he's planning to go with a Twin Turbo setup too in a new video he posted.

So far besides the weak wheel offsets and Camaro tails - i LOve everything about it.
The interior quality, design and tech especially are way improved over the C7. Not to mention better or on par with other supercars. Much better than McLaren for sure.

The Z06 is likely to feature 5.5L flat plane crank V8 Naturally Aspirated.

going to 5.5 liter is a downgrade, dont care of its flat plane crank. 5.5 means its peak torque is going to go down over the 6.2 even with DOHC, and flat plane crank means its low end torque goes down too (one of the drawbacks of FPC). Yes the hp numbers and revs will be high but you have to rev it up there to get it.

Shouldve been a 7.0 DOHC. Revvy engine is not part of an american sportscar or corvette identity, just more boring Euro copying. Imagine this car with the euro mid engine looks with an angry large american V8 sound. Totally unique

Weak wheel offset, you must be talking about the positive offset....which is great for longer A-arms, which helps handling as well as get the uprights/hub carriers as far out as possible for the body work. It also adds track width.......Awesome car & performance the GM way.....

good view of the underside, rear brake ducts seem like a cheap tack on though. Not sure why the dealer is installing these

https://www.motor1.com/news/404267/c...ckage-install/

The C8 Corvette has finally hit dealer lots which means we can finally get a better look at the new Vette’s nuances. Take for example the Z51 performance package designed for C8 Corvette owners looking for a maximum on street performance and the ability to track their new mid-engined sports car. Although the Z51 package is mostly installed at the factory, Chevy dealers still have to do a great deal of work to round out the package.

The C8 Corvette’s Z51 package includes larger front and rear brakes, a free-flowing sports exhaust, additional heat exchangers, a shorter final drive gear ratio, a revised suspension, and finally improved aerodynamics. Although most of these improvements are included during the Corvette’s production run a surprising amount of work is left to the dealership to complete.

Take for example the improved brake cooling. Both the front and rear ducts will be installed at your local chevy dealer rather than at the Corvette factory. This install seems simple enough but will certainly add a new variable in the final fit and finish of every C8 Corvette. In today’s video we see an example of a perfect install but what will happen when techs are rushed but eager customers?

In addition to the brake cooling ducts, much of the Z51’s aero improvements are also installed at the dealership. These simple body panel installs are no match for an experienced tech but beg the question as to why this couldn’t be completed at the factory.

The C8 Corvette’s underbody is an impressive result of an engineering team focused on efficiency. The entire underbody is shrouded by plastic and metal plates to improve aerodynamics as well as reduce road noise. This manipulation of air helps the Corvette perform better in almost every metric and it’s modular nature leaves room for improvement for the aftermarket.

are they not Z51 bits and pieces?

I mean the title is "Installing Z51 accessories on my 2020 C8 Corvette"
