2019 Toyota Corolla - Mechanical Review

Yeah, I was wrong, sorry. Avalon and ES pumps are indeed the same and both electric.
When we got our Rav4 hybrid I was disappointed to find a belt driven pump there despite it having the same engine as ESh. So I started doing some research, have looked at parts.toyota.com and somehow ended up with a picture of a pulley driven pump for Avalon - so I assumed it was divided along the Lexus / Toyota line. Still interesting they use a pulley driven pump on Rav4h/NXh - there is clearly enough room there for electric pump.
An advantage of an electric water pump is that continue to provide heat to the cabin even with engine off. It is likely to be better for fuel economy too.
