on styling alone i wouldn't get the LX... i also just don't like the idea of an even softer version of an already very comfortable and creature comfort laden rugged offroader
i don't agree though that the car is outdated just because it has a physical shifter and gauges, which i think look better anyway and are more reliable... if you just have a whole screen controlled entirely by the same computer and software you'll lose every gauge should the screen encounter a problem, and considering the conditions many LX's are put through i'd say physical gauges are the right move
also a stop/start system or something could surely be added, not that it'd really do much lol... it'd be kinda cool if toyota sold the diesel versions here but i don't see that happening anytime soon, and VW certainly didn't help with that

as big of a land cruiser fan that i am and much as i love to say what a disappointment the LS 500 is, that's simply not true... as good of a truck as the LX is, it's still an ancient truck, it jiggles around a bit and feels quite heavy and lumbering, which is all awesome if you want a truuuckk but you can't just sit back and drive with your pinky for hundreds of miles at a time with essentially no physical or mental effort expended

I'm not saying an LX will cruise 90MPH like any 400/430/460, but I'm sure it's comfortable enough.
If I can drive with my pinky on the interstates and not have to exert much physical or mental effort in a 2003 Yukon, I'm sure I'll find the LX more than adequate.

Here is a thread of someone posting their adventure in their LX right here on CL

I can post opinions about Rolls Royce and Ferraris all I want but that's meaningless to them because I'm never going to buy one.
They should listen to their customers, which isn't you, and their customers are buying competing products not their product.

You can have a say, but Lexus isn't going to listen nor should they because you aren't a customer for their products.

Except I could afford to buy a new Lexus if I wanted to, I just choose not to.
And in any case, your problem with the "old" LX....you're driving a 2007 LS460 facelifted yourself so what's your point?

The competitors were much more fresh, but they wouldn't be reliable like the LS.

That is what I’m driving, but i bought it new and it will one day be replaced by a car of similar caliber again bought new, another Lexus LS or competitor. So, I am their customer. You can go out tomorrow and buy a new outdated Lexus LX and then you would be their customer. However, you said you would never do that. So what you think of their vehicle means nothing to them.
If I had bought my 2017 Lexus LS used then I wouldn’t be their customer and they wouldn’t care what I think either.
I don’t understand how you don’t seem to get this. If you don’t buy their product new from them and you never would they don’t care, and shouldn’t care what you think.
The bottom line is people who actually spend $95,000 on new luxury SUVs are overwhelmingly choosing not to buy the Lexus LX. That’s a problem.

I don’t drink beer. Beer brewers don’t care what I think of their beer.

Seems to me you're fishing for a pizzing contest which I don't care to get into.
I just find it odd that you criticize an LX for being old and outdated when you basically drive the sedan equivalent? A 2017 LS460 is a ten year old platform.
