New lexus techstream software has tesla software in it. I my lexus mechanic had no idea why or did anyone at the dealership. It was buried in the software. I wonder if lexus and tesla are making a deal soon for servicing or for lexus using tesla technology?

Could be for the RAV4 plugin.

Interesting thought, but I doubt that is about to happen. First, I don't think Toyota would agree to (or want) Tesla's way of doing business (all company-owned retail-outlets), and Elon Musk probably wouldn't agree to running his buisness Toyota's way. Second, wth Musk's eccentric personality and mannerisms, I don't think he could stand having a boss or answering to anyone, period. I sometimes wonder how he gets along with his own girl friend.

Do Lexus and Tesla license software from the same 3rd party supplier?

I didn’t know Toyota buying batteries from Tesla. That could explain why Tesla was in tech stream software. If they are buying batteries they might also be buying Tesla software or hardware. Remember when ford entered hybrid market they bought the old 1st gen Toyota hybrid tech from Toyota as Toyota was using 2nd gen at the time. Might Be the Tesla Toyota. Would make sense as Tesla has more experience with ev imo

It kind makes sense that is tracked cause some of the features is to remote start, destination assist or safety connect. They have to know the location of the car to do so. There are many apps on your phone is tracking location, if you allow it. some are doing it in background vs a report like this one.
