Default New Car shopping to replace Subaru Legacy

So our current lease on the 2017 Subaru Legacy is up next month.
Car has been trouble free and its a great value especially considering what I pay. Looking to get into luxury SUV or large sedan that has quite ride, supportive seats, good power and space for 3 in second row.

Been looking at options for past month and here are my choices (mostly SUVs)
1) BMW X5 Msport - great car and my top choice. Drives amazing with great interior and Multimedia. Unfortunately lease programs are terrible.
2) BMW 540i MSport - not crazy about styling, would prefer more room.
3) Volvo XC90 Rdesign - looks great with nice interior and 3 rows. Ride is harsh and multimedia interface will take getting used to. 4cyl Engine is turn off.
4) Volvo S90 - nice car but i can lease 540 for same $$$.
5) Lexus RX350 Fsport - i test drove 2020 and was really impressed. Touch screen is great, nice seats, V6, and love the gauges. Spacious back seat. Very comfortable ride.
6) Acura MDX Aspec - cheap to lease, old infotainment / tech inside. Still need to test drive.
7) Acura RDX Aspec - was not very impressed with this car not sure it has such great reviews. Engine is loud, suspension is rough, lease program not great.

At this point new RX is probably what im leaning to unless I can get crazy deal on XC90.

Out of all those choices I would pick the RX350 F-Sport. I like the X5 also but it will likely be a good bit more expensive. I also really like the looks of the RDX A-spec with the graphite wheels. It looks great but it looks from your post that you didn’t like it much.

XC90 programs are going to get better closer to the holidays, but right now the markets only doing mid 500s for them.

Lease game tips the scales towards over the RX. The only turn off for me was the noise of the 4s. Vehicle was a stunner from the beginning.

BMW leases can be good, just need to hunt for them, leverage the multiple security deposits, etc. Leasehackr website is a big help, and I know the New York area typically has a number of brokers that can make it fairly straightforward. I don't know what your idea of terrible vs good is on a lease.

Would agree with most of your points. XC90 is good on paper, attractive design, but the ride quality and powertrain leave a lot of be desired relative to the main luxury set.

My wife loves her 2019 X5 M-Sport, did a pretty lengthy search of vehicles/test drives etc. We were able to get ~12% off MSRP, then use a BMW event code for another $1,000 off and a Conquest bonus at the time. We were able to bring the monthly payments under 1% of MSRP with 12K miles/year with 7 MSD's.

RX is well-rounded and value priced, part of why it's a strong seller.

Did you drive one with the air suspension? I thought the one I drove rode well.

What about an Audi Q7? Or a Lincoln Aviator?

If you can wait a few months, check out the Lincoln Aviator and Corsair. Gone are the days of Ford-clones.....Lincoln is doing some impressive products now. But I would wait a few months, if possible, since the Aviator has had some quality control problems in the factory with early-run models. I'd also wait a few months for the Corsair, just now being introduced.

Most XC90 Rdesign builds are in high 60s to low 70s. Lease prices are in high 600s and this is on left over 2019s.

I have leased many BMWs. I tried my existing dealer and multiple brokers - on my $70k build, lease price quotes were $800-850. Residual is only 56% and no incentives except loyalty which is factored in already.
Really sucks.....

I drove Inscription model with 21in rims and standard suspension.
I’m negotiating on RDESIGN with air suspension, 20in wheels and Polestar package which increases power.
Problem is we are like $100/month apart.
Their pricing is close to the X5 which I would much rather have for same $$$.

Love the Aviator- need to drive it, lease programs probably are not good.

Q7 - I looked at one in dealership and didn’t like interior.

Need to look at new GLE also.

That price was for 66k inspiration vehicles. if their low 70s then it`s probably in the correct ballpark.

My eyes are open on some leftovers 19s (not that this would apply to you) that have occasionally popped up in the range of 20-25% off. Dont know what these specific builds get, but that discount is hard 2 pass.

Did you try the latest refresh of the Q7 (imho the outgoing 19s seem to be more timeless albeit with a smaller screen)

The air suspension will make a big impact on the ride. Yeah for the same money monthly I'd rather have the X5 too.

You might be surprised...

Did you look at the 2020 refresh? Interior is all new. Audi leases arent great though.

Have not looked at 2020s but Audi doesn’t give you good value on Leasing.
If i were to spend that $$$ then I would just take X5.

Drove the MDX this weekend- definitely solid car and great value.
Ton of features, great ride quality, nice interior. Only downsides are homely styling and outdated NAV graphics.
I thinks its much nicer than RDX and leases for same amount even though MSRP is $10k higher. I was offered $590 on Aspec with just 1st month, bank fee, dmv upfront. Lower trims can be had for less.
I did like the RX350 better though.

Fun choices!

have you considered a Subaru Ascent? Since you’re ending another Subaru lease might get a better deal on a subie.
Ascent seems like a great vehicle.

Have you also considered Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander? The first two are very luxurious, quiet, good ride, etc.

If you don’t want 3rd row of course there’s next size down versions of all of those.

Buddy of mine just got a new MDX and I was surpriced by how nice it rode. And his lease payment is like $520, which is pretty appealing. Thats less than the payment on the Pacifica and I negotiated it really hard
