So we're getting an EV variant aimed at the EQC and E-tron:

Genesis apparently launching 2 EV models next year.

I guess we'll be seeing American driving reviews soon?
One interesting thing of note is that the front suspension is now a double wishbone, not a strut setup like the G70.

i think the gv70 has a shot at being a real success. i was in a mercedes C300 (coupe) and then a C300 sedan. both very nice, VERY smooth, the 4 cylinder turbo is REMARKABLE in pull, smoothness, etc. so i image the GLC300 is similar. i think the GV70 will give the GLC300 (and X1/X3, plus Lexus NX) strong competition.

They can only do that for so long; that's how Lexus got to where it is--other traditional lux brands resting on their laurels and not taking Lexus seriously. But I have little doubt that Lexus will up its game with the next NX.

I agree with both of you, but "excellence" is also pretty subjective, and for the large majority of Lexus and Toyota customers, excellence seems to translate to not rocking the boat, and focusing on hassle-free ownership with a value based price position.
Back to GV70, I think Genesis shows some of the upstart, aggressively good product that people wanted from the beginning of the brand. But they're going into one of the most contested and competitive segments in the industry, and one that is traditionally very lease heavy. Since they don't have the deep pockets to support discounted leases that will potentially make it difficult, but I hope they're able to focus on the fundamentals and not chase share.

Meanwhile, Infiniti will continue to sell dated garbage like the QX50 in fairly large volumes with dirt cheap leases. That certainly doesn't help their brand though.

Lexus also has an established and respected dealer network which Genesis doesn't, yet. I do think the GV70 will be a disrupter in the segment just like the GV80 is now but will be limited until they figure out the dealership/service situation.

Was watching some of the new reviews out on YouTube. Only one of the reviews mentioned gas mileage, where they were only getting 12mpg around town. I would expect a smaller SUV such as this to get at least mid to upper teens in the city, 25-30 for highway driving. I'm sure for many gas mileage will still be a factor in their purchase, even for a luxury vehicle.
