^^^^^ Actually, that's an inaccurate image I posted. It's not the actual unveiled Wagoneer, but an earlier concept. This is what the actual product would look like with the wood-package:

But, anyhow, Steve, Bit, and tex2670.....your opinions noted.

It would be easy for an aftermarket stick on kit to be offered which might appeal to a certain limited demographic. I hope it doesn't go any further than the rendering.

I can see, so far, that I'm clearly in the minority here.....although I respect everyone else's views. It would arguably be the first option I checked off on the form if I were ordering one. The second, of course, would be the highest-profile tires/wheels available....which would rule out sport-oriented versions.

Hi, next Generation Durango is due 2023. It is based on RAM 1500 architecture and this new Jeep. It will be a full-size body-on-frame SUV and no longer midsize.

Ironically back in 1994, Chrysler Technology Center designers were high on life in a new multibillion-dollar state-of-the-art R&D headquarters (Iacocca allegedly created it as a monument to himself), the success of the Viper RT/10, LH cab-forward large cars, minivans & multi-billion dollar NS minivan redesign on deck for 1995, ZJ Grand Cherokee, new T-300 Ram, new Neons, midsize Cloud cars Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze, and etc through 1998.

Chrysler was considered an American Renaissance in car design compared to the likes of GM and to a smaller degree, Ford.

Inspired, they came up with this full-sizer proposal for the 1998 model year.

1994 Dodge SUV Proposal for 1998 MY, based on 1994 MY Ram pick-up launched October 1, 1993.

1994 T300 Ram SUV Proposal for 1998

1994 T300 Ram SUV proposal for 1998

It was ultimately rejected by 1995 in favor of the midsize Durango for 1998 MY, which itself reached final form in the spring of 1995 and was released in Sep/Oct 1997, taking a very short 28 months to develop from design freeze in April 1995 to start of production on August 18, 1997.

Instead, Chrysler CEO Robert Eaton ordered that it be salvaged as the Mexico Market Ramcharger, launched in 1998 for the 1999 model year and discontinued in 2001 upon Ram redesign.

1999 RamCharger was built off of canceled 4-dr GMT400 Tahoe competitor.

1995 Tahoe 4-door GMT400

1996 GMC Yukon 2-door GMT400

The recent facelift of the 2021 Durango, is basically to buy extra time, while a body-on-frame Durango is readied for production. It has been in production since December 2010 and in dealer showrooms since early 2011. This will be the first full size four-door SUV sold by Chrysler, marketed towards the Dodge/Ram family.

Thanks, Carmaker...always can depend on you for design-details.

Personally, I think that Eaton limiting the big 2-door Ramcharger, particularly the GMT400, to the Mexican market was a mistake. It was EXACTLY what the American market needed after the big two-door Bronco was cancelled in 1996.

I also remember the Plymouth (Trail-Duster) version of the Ramcharger well, from the 1970s...I had a number of trips in them with my friends and colleagues, hauling things needed for projects.

And third would be the fake convertible top? Maybe 4th wire wheels and whitewalls?

Followed by shiny chrome trim on all of the window frames?

Just what Lee Iacocca ordered.

It was only RWD and offered no 4x4, unlike Bronco and GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon, so it flopped in Mexico by 2000. They really could've done better with it, as it used the tailgate of NS minivan launched in 1995. Chrysler being flush with cash in the mid-90s while developing these vehicles didn't need to be so cheap in that respect. I recall that the Durango used the NS minivan taillights too, but not tailgate.

A number of vehicles still have that.

I had one of those sedans (a 1983 Chrysler Lebaron, not the T&C Wagon). Comfortable and pleasant to drive (when it ran correctly), but an unreliable POS. At the time, it was the last American-badged vehicle I owned before switching to Mazdas.

Nope....incorrect. See what happens when you get too far ahead and assume too many things. I was never a fan of wire wheels (too prone to corrosion, and too difficult to clean). Whitewalls....yes and no. I liked the way they looked, but they needed a lot of cleaning with an SOS or Brillo soap-pad, and the white stripes tended to get unsightly cracks in a web-pattern with time.

And a fake convertible top is essentially a vinyl roof...nice-lookng, but, in many cases, also hard to clean and poorly-attached...they tend to rip and loosen. Something else I could do without.

Typically I hate that kind of treatment, but it does look quite nice on this vehicle. Very disappointed with the China-market Grand Commander inspired rear. Tail light design is too bland. From what I recall they had to rework the design we had back in 2015-16, when delays set in.

This teaser wasn't from a "dealer meeting". It was a private showcase at Auburn Hills HQ and better looking rear. Very disappointed.
