You have never had snow tires. I have them on my 2WD Matrix, the traction and grip is superior compared to my 4Runner which has all terrain Yoko.
Same thing would happen if I was to drive my Matrix on snow vs a Subaru with all seasons.

On my computer, it never posted to start with....only a blank space, unless one of the mods deleted it. But when they do that, they usually give a reason why.
That was the whole gist of my point...with an Outback, you don't need them. I had an Outback with all-seasons for almost 6 years, and went through almost everything imaginable short of a full-Buffalo, NY Lake-Effect blizzard.
I won't comment on your Matrix, since I have not driven it. Some Matrix/PontiacVibe versions, BTW, had an AWD option.
