It is cha-ching time for them. As supposed to Hyundai that is losing billions on Genesis.
but anyway, what is your source the genesis is losing billions? They apparently has 15K pre-orders for new G90 in S. Korea when it launched there. That's a chunk if income. For the u.s., it's just going to take time but 2019 certainly better than 2018.

I know English not your first language, but just fyi, "As supposed to" is normally "As opposed to" meaning something like "contrasting against" or "as compared with"...

As to the Genesis, they replaced Genesis president month ago, they posted first operating loss in Q1 2019 after a long time, and even last Q3 was not good due to warranty costs.
Last few years have been pretty hard on Hyundai.

Obviously the redoing of agreements in the U.S. to make Genesis dealerships legally separate from Hyundai trashed their sales for half a year, so no surprise Q1 '19 was terrible.

there were quite few articles about how it is affecting their bottom line - you surely do not think that few k sales per month worldwide is enough to be profitable?

That's because their cars are dated compared to the competition, no ACP/AA yet in the 3IS, things like these are high on consumers list when shopping for a new car in 2019. Lexus will wait for 4IS debut to tout how great it is to implement ACP then. If they don't wake up, they could be dethroned by Genesis in a decade or so provided Genesis can get their marketing and dealership support right. Lexus core consumers are value conscious and those are the same people Genesis markets to. If I were buying a new entry level luxury Asian car, Genesis would be my pick, no point in looking at Lexus's boring offerings.

Not just value, but many want 100% bullet proof reliability and want their cars to run like an appliance.

But how much of their lost is due to the Genesis brand and how much is due to other costs like warranty? You gotta back up what you say with sources.

How are you so sure they are selling what they have? First of all I'm comparing it model by model and second once you strip out the UX and compare it apples to apples to last year, Lexus SUVs are down. And no it doesnt need to be up 30000%. Lexus as a whole is not very healthy and they need the strength in SUV sales to prop their overall sales up since their sedans are sucking wind except for the ES.
