Looks like they held the price steady. My 19 Limited Platinum Hybrid stickered at $49k.

Likely won't be option free like the Palisade Limited.

It might. There were no options on the 2019 Platinum. Just comes with everything.

thanks. when i looked at highlanders several years ago, i don't think they had both back and front parking sensors available. does yours or the 2020 offer both?

My 2016 had the parking sensors on the back only. They added them to the front on the 2017 refresh, so my 2019 has them front and back. I believe the 2020 also has both front and back.

Pretty sure Toyota will be releasing a plug-in HL in the 2021 model year.

My mom is still in the market to buy something to replace her 2001 Highlander. She liked the 2019 Highlander but she'll want to look at the new one just to make sure she makes the right choice - although I have to say I watched the video and I'm not overly impressed with the interior. I'll hold final judgement until seeing it in person, though. Today I had the chance to swing by a nearby Hyundai dealership to see the Palisade and have to say I was really impressed by the fit & finish. That's a really nice interior - I couldn't find anything I didn't like. Very impressive all around - I'm going to get her to look at that and it will give me a chance to drive/ride in one. From a luxury feeling, the Palisade blows away the Highlander IMO.. and they're priced basically the same at the Limited trim.

the 2020 highlander is a nice vehicle from the looks and specs of it. BUT the interior still seems pretty 'average' in materials, finishes, etc. from the TFL quick drive the car seemed VERY quiet which is really nice, but i understand the Palisade is pretty quiet too. The Palisade interior though seems to blow the doors off anything else in its range.

I've driven the 2019 Highlander so I'm mainly comparing what I see in the video of this thread and pics on Toyota's website of the 2020 and thinking it looks relatively similar in materials used in the 2019. The Palisade is on a totally different level. For the Palisade and Highlander to be the same MSRP is pretty staggering (although I haven't driven the Palisade yet). If I were shopping, and assuming ride quality was equivalent between the two, I'd buy the Palisade hands down. I prefer the exterior styling, the interior is way nicer, and I think it comes with some bells and whistles not offered at any trim of Toyota.

Absolutely. I was not expecting the level of refinement that I saw today. It's crazy.

Nothing in the Toyota stable can match the Palisade or Telluride interiors. It's not even in the same league. The only advantage I can think of for the highlander is the powertrain as highlanders generally have some nice pickup from the engine.

From the looks of it. I think the new Highlander will be very similar inside to a 2020 Limited Avalon. That is good or bad depending on if one likes the new direction Toyota is going with their new TNGA stuff. I personally am on the fence, Toyota did add HVAC controls into the screen for some models, that is a first that I have ever seen on a Toyota that is not the Land Cruiser. It will be interesting to read about the driving impressions, I can tell you from driving the new 2019 Avalon, the driving chassis and dynamics are vastly superior to previous Toyota vehicles so I expect the same for the Highlander. My guess is that Toyota will get the driving experience right, and the idea that the new Highlander hybrid will achieve 35 combined MPG is going to be very hard for some to resist.

I bet that hybrid Highlander will outsell Palisade and Telluride by itself. 35 mpg in a useable family SUV is the sweet spot.
