lexus and toyota styles are merging, soon we won't be able to tell without looking at the badge.

See, I actually think they look more different than they ever have.

What Lexus does that look like?!?

If they replaced the toyo badge with a Lexus RX350L badge, BANK. The interior is not Lexus design, but everything on the outside looks like a preview of the next gen RX.

Looking at some of the press stats:

This new Highlander will hit 34 mpg combined for the hybrid version. I think Toyota will see tremendous success with the hybrid system.

I am also still amazed that V6 model is the only Toyota that has standard start stop for a pure gasoline engine. I am also starting to like the chiseled sides. Will be interesting to see their new torque vectoring all wheel drive and how that translates.

From what I gather the new HL has its own Platinum trim, while the current HL is platinum enhancement to the limited trim.

I really do like this new Highlander and hope I don't regret the purchase of our 19. I'm sure the new one will do well. I just couldn't bring myself to sign up for a 4 cylinder.

Is it the same 2.5 L A25A-FXS I4 as the new RAV4?

I'm not sure but suspect it is. It does have a higher output at least (250hp in the Highlander vs 219 in the RAV4).

I think the electric motors will be different. Same engine but slightly different motors. Maybe?

Yes absolutely hate it. The worse part is the off switch has to be pressed everytime you start the vehicle...ugh!

It is quite disappointing tbh. I would have been interested in a V6 Hybrid even if it means it has slightly less power than the future RX hybrid, which im sure will remain a V6. The 4cylinder isn't exactly the model of refinement.

I wonder if there is some typo in the Toyota press release. The total power for the Avalon is 215, and then 219 for the RAV. The power rating is supposed to 240 for the new HL. Avalon has VVT-iE while the RAV is not showing it.

No it's not a typo. The ES300h also has a 215 total system power rating.

Typo on the HL press release of 240.

I was just going from memory when I said 250hp. Looks like I remembered incorrectly.
