Part of it is simply the way today's working-economy is set up. Outside of the military, Federal government, some county/state positions, uniformed services, and some (older) Unionized jobs, there are just not enough jobs with good pensions any more...too much depends on what people can build in their 401Ks and IRAs.

Anyhow, best of luck to you and your family....I llke your attitude in putting them first.
