Default New Lexus ads appearing in magazines

Saw this today in one of my mags. I will admit, taken a little back as there is no cars or anything. Not sure what to think? I have always had a connection with marketing and this the first time I have seen this.

Fire that agency yesterday.

Infiniti tried a version of this with the Q45, scenery but no vehicle. Didn't work out too well for them.

This was for National Geographic If people actually go the website, looks like nobody did, it ties in more with the mag (so it seems)

I've been seeing Lexus ads on TV today during some bowl games that seem to tie in with this lexus.com/curiosity thing. The ads I saw didn't show specific models but rather safety and comfort features that are available on Lexus vehicles. Maybe they just started running during bowl games I don't know.

Trying to sell an image instead of a car. Doesn't appeal to me in the least.

Very few companies can afford a multi stage story release. Apple does it very well. Tesla built up momentum to the big reveal. Lexus is simply wasting money getting people to talk about nothing.

The sooner Lexus gets out of 40000? hour journey to mastery cycle, the better. It shook the world with LS 430. It used to be Lexus was only concerned with 3 German brands. Now, 2 Korean and Tesla are in the mix. It's quite clear who is leading and lagging among these 7 brands.

I've lost track what the real Lexus brand identity is... it was Perfection and a pyramid of martini glasses on the hood of a car's engine. What is it now? Inspiration? Exhilaration?

Outdated marketing. My thoughts on those old adds.
The Lexus brand is quite evolved now from where it was. I do think the Experience Amazing is kinda too simple.

I confess that I was not aware of it at the time, but, when that classic Lexus champaigne-glass ad was done, Nissan Altima and Dodge Ram ads also came up with their own versions of it. Check this out............
