I limited nothing. I was responding to (and quoted) this:

I guess technically V6 isn't in there, so I did arbitrarily eliminate 3.5L engines with a cylinder count other than six.

I see what you are saying now. I don't think there is anything wrong with the 3.5V6. it makes 300 plus horses. I think it has the best fuel economy for the intended segment. Yes, GS could use a different engine. But all of the competitor in the RX, ES or Avalon arena, the Toyota engine is pretty competitive.

I was just responding to how you said the Honda was better. Not sure what you were expecting.

And yeah displacement of NA V6 engines is rarely the same across makes, so limiting it to just 3 5 exactly is a bit limiting...

Lol, old or not, I would take the 3.5 V6 over any turbo crap....all day, every day.

These 2.0ts are not pleasant engines to live with.

.
Real question for you? Lexus 3.5 V6 in the GS350, or the Lexus 3.5 V6tt in the Lexus LS500?

I much prefer the naturally aspirated Toyota/Lexus V6's over the Turbo 4 cylinders as well.

A turbo V6 in general I would be open to, even if I prefer N/A. So to answer I'd definitely go with the TTV6. It's 4 cylinder cars I loathe, I don't care how fast they are.

Compare the V6 to the Turbo I6 in the M340. It has 382hp and better gas mileage. The V6 is antiquated by comparison.

Well, yeah, but the Toyota V6 won't implode at 80k or less. We have the 3.5 in our IS350, which is strictly a throw away vehicle we are waiting to trade in (lol for an "old" LX or GX BOF)....we neglect the heck out of it bc we are getting rid of it soon and it still sings just fine. I think it's been 5,000 miles over since we've changed the oil.

Got yeah. I see what you mean. I was skeptical in the past about Toyota when they decided to keep their NA engines. But the 3.5 is pretty good. I do think the 5.0 in the LC might be a little long in the tooth.

The I6 in the 3 series is proving to be very stout. The engines last way more than 100k. The issue is that the rest of the car doesn't last. That's why Toyota uses the I6 in the Supra.

The problem with the BMW in-line six twin turbo is the throttle response and torque curve; it is peaky and unpleasant just like other turbos.
Thus, at the end of the day, it is horses for courses and each to their own.
If you like outright performance and economy, go small capacity turbo.
If you like refinement, go atmospheric.

Overall, Lexus sales and profitability is doing fine.
It costs very little to modify a FWD-based Toyota platform into a Lexus, so Lexus makes very good money.

The intermediate lies in hybrids and plug-ins, the latter of which TMC is moving into.
While the future lies in electric.

Yeah, the 5.0 V8 has been around for a while now. But it's my favorite Lexus engine! It makes music to my ears I trust it for long term reliability. I'm going to enjoy it while they are still making them!

So would I. It may not have as much low-end torque as some of the turbos, but you can rely on it, day and night.

A BIG distinction to your post. You actually own a LC. A big difference compared to others (even myself) who just want to complain or be negative. Thanks for chiming in. (I do have no doubt a turbo Lexus will be reliable too)
