It simply becomes tiresome whenever there is a thread where some new design is debuted we have to endure the thread being taken over by commentary from the same 4-5 people about old car designs and how theyre better and how they dont like this feature or that feature..and how all of this was done better 20 years ago...its quite annoying.
We have forums where old models and old ways of doing things are discussed. This is happening in EVERY thread in CarChat about a new model right now. Every one. Discussion of the new Escalade turns into complaining about gearshifts being connected to transmissions. Discussion of the S450 turns into a discussion about how carmakers should use spare tires like they used to. On and on and on.

I don't agree. This forum shows no sign of "dying", I see plenty of people participating in threads all over this forum and other forums I participate in and lurk in. I have no problem with anybody's participation, but its gotten to the point here where NO thread doesn't disintegrate into this old vs new back and forth and like I said thats driven by the same 4-5 people (I don't consider you one of them)

This entire subforum is mainly dominated by the same handful of opinionated people and if you disagree with their POV then you are an idiot. It is tiresome to say the least. Same opinions restated time and time again. I try to ignore the best I can, but occasionally I get pissed off enough to speak up. Some real good members on here that aren’t homers, so they make up for the delinquents. Carry on.

And, BTW, though I can sometimes persist in an opinion, I never call someone who disagrees with me an idiot. For one, that violates CL posting rules.

The topic hasn’t been about the Escalade for pages and pages so it’s hard to discuss the Escalade in it.

Simple....it's called returning to topic. We've done it may times after getting off-topic. However, it is probably inevitable that whenever a new vehicle debuts, it's going to be compared to its predecessors or competitors. I don't see any way around it. That's just part of being an auto forum.

Comparing it to it’s predecessors and going on and on about tirades about new cars in general vs how cars used to be is a different thing.

The Escalade is so established in this market that it's possible that Lexus (for the time being) has just given up on trying to compete with it.

i think you will always have a few who buy the Lexus SUVs but for sure the Escalade will dominate them in sales.

The more I look at it the more I like it. I still prefer the Navigator though.

The Escalade is not my cup of tea. I am not a big fan of GM in general. I am against government bailouts. That’s where I will leave my opinion. I certainly do not have anything else to add. I would love for Toyota/ Lexus to get their collective heads out of their a$$e$ and update the Sequoia and LandCruiser/LX.
