Navigator was good when it was new.....this just tops it. I think the new Esacalade tops Mercedes and Range Rover at the same price points

Its a different vehicle than the GLS or Range Rover, the GLS is much more of a traditional 3 row. The Range Rover is much higher quality inside and is going to ride and drive better and more carlike than the Escalade.

My issue with the Escalade is it feels very GM, like all GM cars do. The switchgear and the layouts just have a feel about them that I don't like and Cadillac doesnt seem to be able to get away from it. If you like that GM feel you will feel differently but I don't.

Dare I say, I probably would choose the Navigator...

For sure....but for the price point, the one I saw was $125K. Its different. Its not German. Just old school GM Its nice to see something that is NOT a cross over

For $125k I wouldnt even consider an Escalade lol. Unless I had to tow. All the switchgear is the same as a base Escalade. ~$125k gets you a V8 Range Rover Autobiography which is a way better vehicle than an Escalade for the use 99% of people will have for it. That also gets you close to a GLS63 AMG. Thats just crazy for an Escalade IMO. Escalade is an attractive option around $80-95k. Over $100k I'm buying something more special unless I need a specific utility like towing.

"Old school GM" isnt a selling point for me, especially at $126k lol

I think that's a typo....did you mean same switchgear as a base Suburban/Tahoe? If so, I agree.

Its ok to like something else every once in a while...I like the LX570 better....but doesn't mean the Escalade is not worthy of some praise.. I find almost every single large crossover from the German very unappealing, but I think I could find lots of stuff to like...even the G-wagon now looks goofy with the circle headlights....Range Rover is nice....but super crappy reliability (not to same the Escalade is better) Escalade is a nice effort. Something I like that GM did was add the red lights for the door locks...Lexus used to do this with their previous LS460 and still do with the LC500...but not the 500...Mercedes has the pop-up locks which looks tacky (LX570 too) But there is something to like for everyone in all the cars at the prices would were are talking about

Considered Cadillac sedan (CT 6, as I recall) as alternative to 2021 350 ES but was concerned about reports of Cadillac’s mediocre reliability ratings compared to exceptional marks for the Lexus.
But I always have loved Cadillac styling and still do.

That is nothing new and its not big deal. Escalade is a step up model a lot of the time.

My Lacrosse had that....small red and green lights on the interior door-switches to show if they were locked. GM products have a tendency to lock the doors themselves once you start rolling, no matter how the switches are set.

Both are true. My point was a fully loaded Escalade has the same switchgear as a base Escalade, so adding options doesn't solve that issue. The vehicle feels like a nice Chevy inside.

Little things like that are just individual design decisions that don't really move the needle for me. I don't really care if a company has lights on doors for locks or pop up plungers, but the overall feel and quality of their interiors is something I do care about. The Escalade is a good effort, as well as GM can do, but it still doesnt feel the same way as other vehicles in the segment when you start getting up there in the price point. I think Lincoln separated from Ford better in the Navigator.

Cadillac tries to push the price envelope for their cars and they don't land. Like the CT6, terrible car inside for $95k. But for $65k? A lower trim one was a good option. Same with the Escalade. When you get around $100k (certainly $125k) you have to have a special product, and the Escalade just doesnt feel special to me.

I agree that this Escalade brings the WOW factor, especially in the front seat area, that the Navigator doesn't deliver.

This gen Escalade also separates from its pedestrian GM brethren much more, again in front seat area, more than any prior Escalade has.

Shame that the 2nd and 3rd rows of both Escalade and Navigator really do revert back to the basic appearance of their mainstream counterparts.

While I respect your opinion, on that part I have to at least partially disagree. In some ways, the Navigator does deliver a WOW factor, particularly in the solid durable quality of its interior materials/construction. The door-closings and hardware inside all feel like they are carved out of granite...absolutely light-years ahead of previous Lincolns.

Now, where Lincoln seems to be letting down is not in the way they design a vehicle, but in the way they come from the factory with too many defects. On the surface, they look and feel like they are made of granite, but, underneath, there can be too many flaws.

That’s what I’ve been screaming for almost a year now! Boring-looking compared to the last one.

you’ll get used to it. I think you’ll warm to the design.
