Both superb. From the pics, the Cadillac interior looks better.

Yes. The Suburban and Yukon have already converted......now it's the Escalade's turn.
I'm a firm believer in live rear-axles for large trucks/SUVs for load-carrying/towing purposes (and you don't have to get rear-wheel alignments)...but it's pretty much a given that IRS gives you better road-manners.

The IRS will make a HUGE impact on how these drive. If you drive a GM big SUV now and compare it to an Expedition or Navigator, the ride and interior room differences are substantial.

Yeah, I have no doubt it will be. The Navigator is.

I've got no real problems with IRS (my Lacrosse has it, for example)...but it makes for more expensive 4-wheel alignments instead of just up front, and, in RWD/AWD vehicles, increases the number of U-joints in the drivetrain to wear out and/or be replaced.

It’s a $100,000 luxury vehicle. Who cares about what alignments cost?
$150 vs $100. Once or twice in your ownership. Matters not one iota.

the benefits for a family hauler type vehicle for IRS is far bigger than its downsides: better ride/comfort, better handling, more interior space. Look at how much the dimensions improved. When you compare it to the Expedition it pretty much catches up to what the Expedition had. The last gen tahoe platform dimensions are laughably small compared to the Expedition of course who has been using IRS for a long time.

I've never seen a alignment shop charge different prices for the type of suspension/axle a vehicle has.

They charge more for a 4 wheel alignment than they do a front end alignment. It’s a nominal amount though.
