Anyhow, back to the original topic......the 2021 F-150. I wish the article would have told us a little more about the all-electric BEV F-150 that supposedly is coming. With the F-150's traditional huge appeal, it will be interesting to see what the electric version does to Elon Musk's pyramid-shaped competitor.

They`re not showing their hand till they get their hands on a real life Cybertruck or Rivian (The most popular of a very crowded upcoming EV pickups).

The F150 wont have any impact on the Tesla truck. People looking for a serious truck aren't going to be cross shopping the Tesla, and people who want the Tesla aren't looking for a serious truck.

Rust free work cybertruck, with onboard power, at the base 39k number is something fleet operators/serious trucker shoppers have dreamt about for a while.

I would be utterly shocked if any fleets bought Tesla trucks. Fleets buy trucks at HUGE discounts (they dont pay anywhere near $39k for a fleet truck), Ford, GM and FCA have very robust fleet departments and Tesla doesnt have anything like that. Tesla truck will be much more expensive and fleets aren't going to buy into the unknown reliability and repair scenarios of a Tesla vs a traditional truck that can be worked on anywhere.

And serious truck shoppers are very brand loyal, they're not going to just all of a sudden go buy a Tesla truck and turn their back on their brand they've been a part of for years.

This truck will sell to people who wouldn't have bought a real 1/2 ton truck, or if they did it was a whim vanity purchase. They'll sell them all, don't get me wrong but its not going to put a dent in truck sales.

did you forget the horrendous range for towing? You can buy fleet trucks now for much cheaper than 39k

Good luck working in remote areas with your cybertruck.

1) Internal combustion engines dont suffer a mileage penalty at all when towing?
2) All fleet trucks travel 1000 miles everyday? Big urban centers/Cities dont exist?
3) Maintenance intervals that are quite few and far between. Imagine no fluid change intervals, less brake changes.

Just saying, I think if a fleets going to consider an EV F150, their probably gonna look at the cybertruck and other EVs in the market. Saying the cybetruck will not be part of the equation to those considering an F150 EV, is like Mercedes, BMW, and any other luxury automaker downplaying the potential of their ev portfolio back in 2012...we know how thats going currently.

To clarify, I`m not saying the cybertruck is going to magically destroy non EV F150 sales. Just the mere opinion, that if the F150 EV cant match the popular EV options (Rivian and Cybertruck), the F150 EV will become the next ford focus electric.

This new F150 looks like the current one to me. That’s not a bad thing as I love the current truck.

yes it's definitely a refresh more than a new model.

Fleet priced EV F150 will be MUCH cheaper, and a known quantity to a fleet manager.
