Had this conversation with a friend about how annoying SXM is to deal with - he canceled two months ago and just forwarded me a "win back" email SXM sent him offering $99 for 3 years in one vehicle. So less than $3/month... The name of the game for SXM is just like it was for newspapers and magazines- they need to be able to talk about number of subscribers for their leverage with advertisers. It has very little to do with their margin on each subscriber- at less than $3/month, they are really gouging the average customer who doesn't re-negotiate every 6-12 months and pays $11/month per car.

True. Very similar as both are likely to be replaced by lower cost or free streaming options offered elsewhere! With unlimited data plans on cell phones, Spotify/Apple Music/Pandora/Tidal, I see SXM being in big trouble. A family plan for Spotify is around $15/month and covers 5 people.
