I don't know if anyone considers the NX to be an X3/GLC competitor. It's more of a GLB competitor.

I don't think there is anything in the Lexus lineup that can be considered a competitor to Audi/BMW/Mercedes.

The IS is a good competitor to lower models of the 3/C/A4. The LS is also a viable competitor against the CLS, A7 (that really is where its aimed). LC is a viable competitor to the coupes.

Lexus NX and RX are always a little difficult to classify about the Germans, but I would still say the NX is a GLC competitor. The GLB is more compact car, albeit also a 7 seater with a lower end interior.

They're the same length, and the GLB has a longer wheelbase. Both are FWD layouts. If anything, the GLB is slightly larger on the inside.

I know we all like to ***** on Lexus and the NX, but I still like the NX and I like the new one, at least what can be seen of it here. I have always thought the current NX, in F Sport guise, is a very good looking small CUV. I have enjoyed driving them as loaners. That's what I usually get from my dealer for a loaner, anyway. I have high hopes for the new one.

the last time I had a GLB as a loaner, it was a very narrow vehicle on the inside. If passenger volume is the same or more, then it is because of packaging. The average buyer is not going to see the NX as from the the GLC because of fwd or rwd. They will simply compare based on positioning of the vehicle and the NX and GLC are a more premium product compared to the GLB.

But price-wise, the NX is cheaper than the GLB, which in turn is much cheaper than the GLC. And while consumers don't care about RWD or FWD, the GLB and NX are much more direct competitors because they're more similar in price and mechanics than the GLC to the NX.

I have to agree. After checking out a GLB, it feels much smaller and narrower inside than the NX, whereas the GLC seems to be more of a direct competitor. Put 2 6 foot plus adults in the front of a GLB, and both are fighting for space on the center armrest. Also, after checking out the interior of a GLB, it seemed to be much more 'plasticky' than I expected. Looking forward to see what a new NX will provide.
