Hill-Climbing Ford Sierra Packs Lexus V8 Under Hood
By Brett Foote

Building a hill-climbing monster is as easy as stuffing a big Lexus V8 into a tiny Ford.

The engine remains naturally aspirated for now, but its 280 horsepower output is more than enough to move the 2,200 pound Ford around quite quickly. The engine breathes through a dual side-exit exhaust and has a BMW 318 gearbox behind it to handle shifts.
An interesting question is how they managed to bolt the older BMW transmission to the older (LS400) Lexus V8, when, in those days, BMW and Lexus components were not designed for compatibility with one another. It was not like today, when BMW and Toyota worked jointly on the Supra.

If this were stateside, they'd have likely used an LS engine instead of the Lexus mill, just because of how common they are. Awesome to see something different happening!

Usually through the use of adapter plates made by aftermarket companies or just custom built by anybody with tools. It's done in the hot rod community frequently(Maybe not that specific combo, but lots of unnatural combinations).

Would be interesting to see how well a Coyote would have fit in there.
