In my case, I prefer to have all Toyotas (or Lexus) with the same 2GR-FE. Now that 2008-2012 2GR had the oil hose popping issue, but after late 2012, the 2GR is pretty solid. I only have to keep 1 type of oil filter on hand, one type of oil, one type of coolant, etc. Also, I had to learn to maintain just the one engine.
