Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 1, 2020… BMW of North America announced today Q1 2020 sales results for the BMW and MINI brands in the U.S. For the sales period ending March 31, 2020 BMW brand sales totaled 59,455 vehicles, a decrease of 15.3% vs the 70,227 vehicles sold in the same time period last year.* MINI brand sales totaled 5,237 vehicles, a decrease of 35.1% vs the 8,072 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2019.*

BMW of North America entered 2020 with product demand high and strong momentum stemming from an ongoing product offensive that saw more than 40 new and refreshed products launched over the previous 24 months. However, U.S. sales in the first quarter of 2020 were adversely affected by the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, which has many states still under shelter-in-place orders. Consequently, several BMW and MINI showrooms across the country remain closed with only essential personnel available for necessary service.

“The top priority for us during this global crisis is the health and well-being of our customers, dealers and employees,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “Simultaneously, we are working closely with our dealer networks to help them in their efforts to maintain their financial liquidity, while also supporting our customers by extending vehicle warranties and maintenance plans, and offering no cost vehicle pickup and delivery for urgent service matters.”

“The 1st quarter of 2020 has been both a thrill and a challenge for a number of reasons,” said Mark Del Rosso, President and Chief Executive Officer, Genesis Motor North America. “If you were to ask me a month ago, my words would be full of broad vision, moving toward our promising future. However, today, as our entire industry suffers, from factory workers to those who run the dealerships and our service departments, we re-focus on comfort, humanity and leadership. We take this challenge on, as we can. We are one family. And, like any other family, we are in this together.”

Del Rosso continued, “earlier this year we revealed of our 1st-ever SUV – the GV80, we led the industry in the JD Power 2020 Vehicle Dependability Study, our Genesis Cares Job Loss Protection efforts to give our customers some peace of mind, and most recently, the global digital reveal of our all-new 2021 Genesis G80 luxury sedan. The Genesis team is determined to get through these devastating times, and look forward to returning to some semblance of normalcy and launch our 2 stellar new products; the all-new G80 luxury sedan and our 1st-ever SUV – the GV80.”

Porsche deliveries slump 20% as coronavirus slows auto sales

Dalvin Brown
USA TODAY Porsche is starting to take a hit from coronavirus.

After a decade of sustained growth, the luxury sports car maker's deliveries fell 20.2% from January through March in the USA. Over the past few weeks, millions of Americans have lost their jobs, seen their 401(k) values plummet and shopped less during the pandemic.
Porsche, which produces luxury sports cars such as the 911, 718 Boxster, Cayman and Taycan, reported 11,994 total sales in the first quarter compared with 15,024 vehicles sold in the USA during the same period in 2019.

Coronavirus rattles global auto shows: But what about local car gatherings?
Sales of the company's famed 911 dropped 10.5% year-over-year. The German automaker's mid-engine 718 range slumped almost 40%, and its top-range sedan Panamera dropped 30.3%.

The company handed over a record-breaking 280,800 vehicles to customers in 2019, a 10% rise over 2018. SUVs powered last year's sales.

Social distancing:Chinese car company to deliver keys via drones

Amidst the pandemic, Porsche North America has three priorities, the company said in a news release: It's focused on protecting its staff, supporting mobility and helping dealerships manage the fallout.

Most of its employees work from home except for on-site support workers who practice social distancing. The brand is ramping up its e-commerce presence to make home delivery for new vehicles and home pickup and drop-off for service appointments commonplace.

no, they just reported quarterly numbers and not march.

So Lexus dropped 15%, BMW dropped 15%, Audi dropped 14% for the quarter.

I would guess it depends on locations and where the dealers closed earlier.

Mercedes-Benz reports Q1 sales of 67,746 vehicles

Apr 8, 2020 – AtlantaMercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported Q1 sales of 67,746 Mercedes-Benz models. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Vans recorded Q1 sales of 7,520, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 75,266 vehicles for the quarter, a decrease of 4.3% over the comparable period last year. MBUSA got off to a strong start in 2020, bolstered by growing demand for our comprehensive lineup of new and recently refreshed SUVs. However, disruptions to our dealership network caused by the COVID-19 pandemic combined to negatively impact our results during the final weeks of the quarter.

“Our top priority during this unprecedented global health crisis is the wellbeing of our employees, customers and dealer partners,” said Nicholas Speeks, President and CEO of MBUSA. “Every department is mobilized to responsibly service the needs of our customers and supporting our dealer partners to the best of our ability.”

Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in Q1 included the GLC, GLE and E-Class/CLS model lines. The GLC led totals with 13,098 units followed by GLE with sales of 11,802. E-Class/CLS rounded out the top three with 7,060 units.

Q1 sales of Mercedes-AMG high-performance models totaled 6,427 units.

Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 32,109 vehicles during the first quarter of 2020, up 5.7% over the same period in 2019.

Great - maybe i can now get a 991.2 GT3 or GT3RS for a reasonable price!
Porsche dealers are the worst when it comes to allocations and markups, very different than my experiences with BMW.

Will be interesting to see how the new Cayman GTS and GT4 sell.
