It was even cooler when MB and BMW came out with it a few years ago

I don't know a great deal about that system, or how it works. Does it tend to interfere with any state laws on tinting or visibility?

That is nice. At least Lexus will make it last the life of the vehicle and not break just after the warranty period

So, I'm sure you can't use it on side windows in the US. Lexus is using it on a partition between the driver and rear passenger in this application, and MB and BMW use it on their sunroof glass.

This tech is not new, I first saw it at a home show for home windows about 25 years ago. Its basically the same idea as an electrochroamatic rearview mirror.

Car manufacturers don't make glass, the glass Lexus is using is made by Nippon, my guess is Nippon makes the glass used by Mercedes and BMW also.

What this will do of course is dramatically increase the cost of glass replacement.

I don't know if Mercedes or anyone else does this.

" A glass roof above the rear seats features voice control and a gesture controlled “SkyGate” display window that uses AR to display various types of information, such as a realistic star-filled sky, user-favorite videos, and even navigation."

That’s a concept car. But yes, those types of displays are all over the concept car circuit.

That type of augmented reality is all the rage.

Toyota has already implemented some AR stuff into their heads up display in LS500. Road sign assists in the heads up, forward cross assist I think the new Lexus LS HUD can outline pedestrians in the dark.

Hyundai also has something along the lines with AR in the HUDs...I don't think it is out on street product yet. Source

I am not sure who has implemented AR yet. The LS HUD display features are a first I think.

Audis HUD has those features, as does BMWs and MB. What you're talking about is road sign recognition

There is more to it than just road signs. I like the way Toyota has implementaed the navigation directions but only periodically. Same with the lane change assist features and other stuff and radar etc I believe the LS500 has the first ever direction arrows to go allow with front cross traffic assist.
