Toyota/Lexus getting rid of most V8s

Every downsized thing I've experienced I wasn't fond of, engine wise.
A V8 has a "special" sound and feel, to me at least.
Until Uncle Sam took over, V8s were everywhere....there was a reason for that. (I know you get it, not talking to you.) Now you're lucky if you can get 6 cylinders in a premium car, let alone a V8.
I could not care less about bad gas mileage, tried and true is what I want. If the Toyota 5.7 gets 14-15MPG, that's fine. I don't hold that to 2020 standards because it's an old motor.
Gas is cheap even when there's not a pandemic.

I would never drive any truck with a turbo V6 and no V8. Over my dead body.
I'd rather have the base 5.3 Chevy V8 than the top line 3.5 Ford Eco.
Toyota can get rid of V8s, I'm getting the 5.7 very soon, probably the last NA one. Even for 12 years old its numbers and performance are stout.
I've never heard any complaints from really anyone about the 5.7 other than it's thirsty but IDC about that. People don't say it's underpowered.

And yes, V8s are the best.
I can use late 80s GM cars as a perfect example. Let's look at C-Body GM cars. (Park Avenue, Olds 98, Cadillac Sedan de Ville.) Let's look at 1988. Buick and Olds got the 3800 which was a great motor, plenty for those cars. But the Caddy got a 4.5L V8 (after ditching the god-awful 4100) with 5 or 10 less horsepower than the 3800 but much more torque, and smoother. Plus, there's the V8 sound and feel. It used to be a premium thing.
Now we have 4 cylinder luxury cars, it's pathetic. It's so bad that in this movie I watched a few weeks ago this doctor had an E300 and they dubbed in an expensive sounding starter that sounded like a powerful engine before he drove off.

I'm debating on putting an exhaust on our LX when we get one. I'm undecided. I want the Lexus quiet (and I already have a loud truck with a straight pipe) but that DOHC 5.7 sings I imagine.

If you PM "Oliver Enterprises" he created a small exhaust vent for the LS460 that adds just a little bit of exhaust sound, if it can be adapted to the LX it might just be what you're looking for.

That actually is exactly what I'm looking for, if I do it. Thanks! I don't want it obnoxiously loud at all, just maybe a nice purr.

The sound clips sound pretty good.
The LS400 and LS430 have a better exhaust note than the LS460, his mod helps with that. I've thought about it.
