Beats almost every production car. How much?

I could see Elon... "Challenge accepted!!"

Plaid mode here we come!

I love Porsche's though. Someday, after I put my kids through school. Maybe.

From the comments, the car is a full street equipped 911.

So what was this all about?

Why is the performance of this Porsche but when Tesla gets more performance (for free) that is only for juveniles?

...and this is a head scratcher in retrospect

Lets lighten up. This is all in good fun. Most member here don't seem to care about Performance, just reliability. Go to the Performance section of the Tesla forums...you get people that constantly want Ludicrous mode because 3 seconds is too slow for them. I think you adjust to speed pretty quick...my friends with with cars that do 0-60 in 4 seconds feel just slow now to me. I'm one of those people that wants Ludicrous mode on the Model 3 though

I think I'm asking a legit question. Why on one hand is Tesla performance pointless but a one off Porsche is awesome.

It likely won't be be long before the upcoming tri-motor Model S delivers under 2 seconds, with a full factory warranty, tons of space, everyday usability and a total cost likely less than the modifications on that 911 Turbo S. Which let us not forget is already a 200K car as is, before a penny is spent on modifications.

i've learned over time that it's never a bad idea to put your money on the 911 to win a drag race, that same weight in the back which causes dangerously unpredictable oversteer makes for great traction getting off the line

Rapid acceleration to me is just fun, the way that monster trucks are fun. Just when you think you've seen the biggest tires on a truck ever, along comes a truck with even bigger tires and two engines! And then next year FOUR engines! With flames shooting straight up from the exhaust pipes!

Actually, what might have more real-world value would be a competition where we see how many G's a car can pull going in a circle. I would imagine a Vette could do maybe 1.3 G's. What can Formula cars do? Although now we're talking sticky rubber and downforce wings.

I agree with you. Two insane (for street-use) power-levels are as bad, if not worse, than one. I can just imagine what the accelerative G-Forces are going to be on vehicles like that....probably similar to some of the manned rocket-sleds that the Air Force and NASA were experimenting with back in the 1950s.

I don't think i've been inconsistent. Just for the record, i didn't say this porsche is awesome. i applaud and respect the engineering that makes very fast cars including tesla possible. And they are incredibly fun, but i still think cars this fast on the STREET are pretty pointless, basically about bragging rights, and yes, pretty juvenile. But this one on the drag strip, cool!

People take their street cars to the strip all the time including Tesla there is a YT channel of a guy that drags his Model S dozens of times a year. So again explain why Tesla making their cars faster gets a response "who does that REALLY matter to?" but this Porsche gets a "take that Tesla" thread.

That doesn't come across as consistent.

I like that idea. Have always been a fan of Porsche too. If I can't get a used 911 or Panamera someday then maybe a Boxster.

Almost bought a used Cayenne S a few years ago but I wasn't keen on the ride quality as a primary family vehicle.
