Retail values from Kelly Blue Book, Nadaguides, Edmunds.com
I've noticed that in comparison with Nadaguides.com and Edmunds, KBB seems to give out lowball values when calculating the approximate retail value of a car. I've also heard that for many years, a lot of people swear by KBB when gauging the values of their cars to be sold. Me a little bit confused , I'm curious to know why so many prefer Kelly Blue Book, and also which do you choose (KBB, Edmunds, Nadaguides) when calculating the value of your car?
As an example, here's what I came up with for my car (2001 ES 300):
- Edmunds = $23,550
- KBB = $17,060
- Nada = $24,825

Thats funny Doug, when my lil bros Honda got stolen the insurance company used an average of the KBB (higher) and the NADA (lower) so i have no idea why the KBB is lower for you.

Question still remains...
So no one knows why the KBB yields lower car values than Nada and Edmunds?? It just doesn't seem fair for the average car customer and shopper. A little off-topic, but what makes it more unfair is that used dealerships generally appraise the car's value as much lower than the KBB equivalent
BTW, the values stated for my '01 ES from the 1st post are for selling to a private party.
