Toyota bringing GR hot hatch to America !
Interesting news. For US this is likely going to be a performance variant of the Corolla hatch with the new turbocharged 1.6-liter engine pushing upwards of 250 HP

It's about time Toyota did something exciting for it's non-independently-wealthy faithful! A vehicle in this class will be a huge success, as long as they can avoid any deal breakers.

Toyota announced that they intend to sell a GR version for the Corolla in Brazil, but it will be just a regular 2.0 CVT with sporty appearance. Just like the Corolla GR sport sold in Thailand, except it's even worse in Thailand where the GR is based on the 122 hp hybrid version.
Anyway, as for the rumoured hot hatch Corolla, it better be very good, because the Golf GTI pretty much owns this segment. It's hard to think of a hot hatch that does so many things so well like the GTI. Even Jeremy Clarkson traded a CLK 63 Black Series for a GTI, but then again it probably had to do with this expensive divorce... Get married, it will be fun, they said. Fun for her, for $ure.

They could imaginably sell standalone "TRD" version with the same all show and no go, since some might not want to spend the extra $$ for power, but will do it for the aesthetics

It's beyond imagination why Toyota refuses to give the USA an affordable, reliable, true-performance, hot hatch! It seems like a no-brainer, as it would be wildly successful as opposed to all the sporty-looking variants of their currently tepid line up.
