glovebox is nice material, just jpeg compression destroys the detail. It is still a mid-priced Toyota though, not a Lexus... so nicer than Rav4 for sure.

Its great to have as an OPTION, but you should be able to have the CarPlay screen go across the whole screen if you want. Such as Lexus navigation systems, I’ve had them both ways where the screen can’t go all the way across and when it can and I much prefer to have the option to use the whole screen for the map if I want.

All you have to do in CarPlay to go back to the Toyota system is press the Toyota app icon.

This interior is definitely way nicer than Rav4 & also much nicer than competition like Passport, Sante fe, Murano etc. If priced well this could be nice option in this segment.

So big issue, the second row seats cannot be removed AT ALL. They have side airbags and cannot be removed or stowed.

That sucks.

Why would the Sienna and the Venza have different navigation screens. The Venza interior is much better executed. The Sienna interior is worse, but it always has been because it has to be built to a price point. The 2012 model we have in the family has soooo much hard plastic and the newer updated versions weren't that much better.

then make the fender opening more of an equal gap around the wheel rather that just a huge gap at the top.

this mazda shows a better approach.

think of that center console 'roof' as monkey bars for the kids.

Toyota seems to be venturing into having that screenspace become a multipurpose type of screen (eg work for car info/feedback/radio/backup cam/climate controls, etc while carplay/android auto may get the lion share of the screen.).
should have the option of full screen or partial + toyota bit.

my car (12.3" screen) calls this the 'assistant window' and you can turn it on or off.

I see what bit is saying, the wheel wells on the Mazda at least are the same shape relative to the tire and the gap is the same all the way around. The Venza has that Toyota/Lexus "lifted" look

That side pic of the Venza definitely looks similar to the CX5/9 with the long front overhang. I do agree though, the Mazda's wheels arches look a little more equal all around.

Really odd choice on Toyota's part. Interior flexibility seems to something Toyota feels is not as important for whatever reason. I hope the 2nd row seatback can at least fold flat. Odyssey is just getting that with the facelift, Sedona also doesn't if I remember correctly.

Not necessarily just Toyota. Interior flexibility/space efficiency and outward visibility is something that is already suffering on a number of crossovers and SUVs, because of the styling craze with lower rooflines, slanted/raked rear-hatch-lids, and thick roof-pillars, although one reason for the thicker roof pillars, of course, is better crush-resistance in rollovers.
