Lol. One can only wonder about where some AMG owners live. Which zip code and... cough... ahem... what their expenses are in terms of mortage, rent or other costs. It's very easy to dismiss what it costs to own an AMG when your expenses are kinda subsidized. An AMG is expensive. That's not a debate, it's a fact.

the vast majority of high AMG costs are just the high costs associated with any out of warranty old higher-end mercedes, there's really nothing THAT special about going to the AMG model in terms of major mechanical differences

i can't speak for other models, but in terms of the E500 vs the E55 the only thing that's really more costly about the latter in terms of regular use is the extra fuel consumption... parts for my LS 400 are often more expensive than those for the 55 and that's 'just' a toyota

idk if that was directed at me... but i would've definitely had to liquidate some bitcoin if my dad didn't graciously allow me to stay on his insurance plan while i went back to finish my degree lol... and i wouldn't have had all that cash lying around to buy the car in the first place if i hadn't been still living at home at the time

but hey there's always more housing being built, there's only a finite amount of nice E55s out there so i decided that was worth putting up with my parents for a bit longer lol... but i'm well aware that i'm fortunate in that regard so i always try to share the car with anyone who would appreciate it

lol that's right you did

i haven't really taken any interior shots but just imagine a nice looking W211 interior with black leather and the nav screen (no actual nav though)

the frequently difficult to tolerate doug demuro recently reviewed one that should give you a good idea of the interior, except i don't have the alternate cupholder design like the one he reviewed

slight update... i don't think the E55 appreciated me trying to promote it as an obtainable affordable car, literally 2 nights ago i went to take it out and the front right strut had suddenly developed a leak and wouldn't hold any air pressure... so that's my trump check gone lol

Yikes, sorry. Am I wrong or isn't there fluid in those supensions? Do you have Airmatic or ABC? Right now my brain isn't working well, lol.

I thought the E55 had a similar suspension to the fancy setup in the W220 and I thought it had fluid.

well thanks but no need to be sorry I knew what I was getting into when I got it haha... luckily it's 'only' regular airmatic, so replacing a shock is only irritating but not devastating lol

that was the same shock that was on the car since I got it so I guess it was a bit overdue... but now at least all the shocks on my car are <2 years old so I should *knock on wood* be good for some time now... I could've also saved like $300 and gotten an arnott strut but I said nah only the oem bilstein will suffice

people will convert these to coilovers but the air suspension rides nicer and offers some legitimate practicality and cool adjustability
