What I don’t hear talked about much is the opportunity cost of these relics Toyota and Lexus still sell. I am a firm believer that if they redesigned the Tundra, Sequoia, Landcruiser, GX, LX 2-3 years ago they would have sold like hot cakes. The US economy was very strong the past few years and could have sold a ton of those redesigned models. Now that the pandemic has hit will Toyota delay rolling out updated models? Hope not, it’s been way too long already.
But totally agree, a new GX and LX that are updated with current technology would sell even better than they do now (and make more Lexus dealers happier), but luckily for them, sales are all right when they're both dated given that consumers are buying anything utility at this point.

US is very different than the rest of the world (eventually the US comes around) I would not include Canada in with North America as Canada has fully adopted and supported hybrid Toyota's and Lexus. Canada just introduced a carbon tax that will push most vehicle consumers to hybrid technology or smaller motors.

20-30 years from now, Toyota and Lexus will be looked back upon as a pioneer of hybrid, BEV, and at that point an FCEV maker.
The V8 stuff will be a distant memory as well as all the boring sedans in the past. It's tough for people here to understand and for some reason so many people are stuck in the past...

But yes, in the USDM, no Toyota should even come within spitting distance to a Lexus. Of course, thats the problem with Lexus going downmarket so much, that it happens quite often now.
