it's an exotic lamborghini, how many do you expect it to sell?

and to all: let's not do a whole shifter discussion again here. we just finished an almost endless thread on the topic.

I was being partly facetious. Yes, the price is a big factor, but shifters like that certainly don't help.

OK (your decision)...but sometimes it's difficult to avoid that subject on today's quirky designs.

Not bad! A big step up from the old one at least, and in size too.

the increase in size really turned me off of the car. before i got rid of my lexus IS and moved to BMW i was considering the new TLX but when i heard that it's near or at a 5 series/E-class size, i was like, damnit, another compact sedan has been lost. I know that acura is supposed to bring a compact luxury sedan to market but it's no doubt going to be entry-level and that's not acceptable for me at this stage in life. that's acceptable for someone right out of university or something.

The interior is pretty much the same size as the outgoing TLX, 93.3 vs 93.4 (old vs new) cubic feet. 5 series is 98.8. Something like the outgoing Genesis G80 is 103.8.

The length is up under 3 inches, which i doubt most people will be able to feel/differentiate when parking, etc. Most/if not all of that length went to changing the proportion of that front end and trying to elongate the dash to axle ratio. It's actually an inch or so shorter than the last TL (just before this outgoing TLX). If you were willing to consider the TLX before, I don't think the small uptick in length should deter you from giving it a drive when it hits dealers, which should be very very soon.

First drive review for the 2.0T

There's been a lot of complaints that the 2.0T is slow- 0-60 in 6.5 seconds even with SH-AWD. Far slower than the Germans, and about on par with the decade-old 2.0T currently in the G70 with AWD. This doesn't bode well for the Type S with its middling power numbers.

I wonder if the lighter, FWD would gain faster 0-60 times.
Looks great to my eyes. Love the styling all around. Bumpers, intakes, exhaust tips, rims, wood trim, steering wheel, seats- all have a nice combination of sport, luxury, and tidiness.

Same engine gets high-5's in the Accord, but that weighs about 600 pounds less. This things weighs over 4000 pounds even with a 4-cylinder. Admittedly, it's the same size as 5-Series or E-Class.

It's as quick as 530i xDrive

BMW's own website claims that a 530i xDrive goes from 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. Real world testing is around 6 seconds flat. It also weighs slightly less.

TLX's other big flaw compared to the mid-size segment is that even though it's much bigger on the outside, the inside is cramped. Reviewers are already complaining about the small cabin. I'm getting deja vu from the LS 500.

Car and Driver estimates 5.6-5.9 seconds for 0-60 and was very complimentary of the front seat space, but less so of the rear seat.
That added width isn't just for your eyeballs; it's for your elbows and hips, too. Interior room up front is generous, with lots of space between the driver and passenger.
Yet, despite its size, the TLX's rear-seat accommodations are on the small side for a luxury compact sedan. But Acura has a reasonable explanation: Consumers' widespread migration to crossovers gave the development team the courage to sacrifice interior space on the altar of beauty, as everyone who's shopping for maximum practicality has already moved on to an SUV.

The Straight Pipes put out a video (haven't had time to watch the whole thing yet):

Seems like they're going for a V-6 sound with that fake engine noise.

Cliff notes....the car is completely mediocre and uninspiring. It was also an A-Spec. Sounds like a bust Also, they basically said the TLX, Lexus IS, and Infiniti Q50 are the bottom of the segment and would avoid.

Watching that straight pipes video makes me think this is DOA.
revised g70, bmw 3/4, and on and on, beat it in every way.
the interior controls are just AWFUL.
in the video they said the SHAWD feels like driving a worm or a snake (front not connected to the back)
they also said they wouldn't buy it or the IS compared to the competition.
