I think I preferred the styling of the outgoing version better. I don't care for this one as much, though the other improvements seem to be good.

 

yeah i'm sure the dozen hp is going to make a major difference.

if you think that's bad, how does toyota get away with shipping a car with only right side exhausts but openings on both sides.

I only mentioned it because I often hear people on this site claim Toyota is behind on the powertrains........but clearly that is not the case. I think the hybrid set up hear might be better than the Toyota version.

toyota clearly has class leading 4 cylinder and hybrid drivetrains.

v6, etc.? not so much.

 

Toyota V6 Highlander has better numbers than a V6 palisade despite the Hyundai having more displacement to work with....same with LS500 (3.5TT) > G80 (3.5TT).


I’d be curious what the Honda I4 turbos are like compared to the Hyundai versions....Toyota has no US domestic I4 turbos

The new I4turbo from the Genesis GV80 is supposed to be very competitive...330hp


So had a chance to read about the Hyundai hybrid...kudos to Hyundai.... for going the turbo route....I find that it interesting and 225hp is quite impressive

you frequently compare toyota to hyundai for hp, but there are others out there, although some comparisons are difficult.

so let's take a look at your comparisons first.
3.5 v6 highlander 295hp 264ft/tq
3.8 v6 palisade 291hp 262ft/tq

but wait...
3.6 v6 in Dodge Challenger 305hp 268ft/tq
the 2.5t v6 in the G80 has 300hp by the way (although 330 would be nice!) and 311ft/tq
3.0t i6 for bmw produces 382hp 369ft/tq

there aren't many (any?) other naturally aspirated v6's other than toyota/lexus out there that i can think of these days? (yes honda, but their numbers are a bit lower than above)

in the end they're all very similar and often hp differences come down to exhausts and intakes rather than the engines... the very good 3.6L jeep/chrysler pentastar engine makes a wide variety of power outputs depending on what it's used in.

 

^^^^^ Torque is what matters in most day-to-day driving, not HP. We've had several threads on this, so I won't go into the details why again.
