Well then Kia succeeded because that what they wanted

Stylists shun the increasingly unpopular minivan label; they claim they've created a Grand Utility Vehicle whose design is more stylish, more futuristic, and, somewhat inevitably, more SUV-like than the outgoing model's.

People buy minivans for many different reasons...although, yes, utility is usually pretty high on the list.

Not sure I agree with that part of the article. If minivans were on the way out, the Sienna, Sedona, Odyssey, and Pacifica would not sell in the numbers they do.

Anyhow, I'll hold any further comments until we actually see, more clearly, what it looks like...or will look like.

It's all in the wording.

Never did they say minivans are on the way out. Quite the contrary. But there is a stigma to the word 'minivan' hence by blurring the lines between minivans and the crossover hype while retaining the utility to entice a wider demographic

I agree. There is a stigma. I did see a load Pacifica today, looked like a crossover to me with a sliding door.

The Pacifica, like most true minivans today, has two sliding doors.

This next Carnival and Sedona will also still have sliding doors.

The only minivan that didn't have sliding doors was the Madza MPV.

Later MPVs did. Earlier ones didn't.

Oops, you're right. My mistake
It's been so long I forgot they continued making them past the regular-door era

would they ever make an SUV with sliding doors? probably not since it would still somewhat associate it with a van.
i like sliding doors; less dents when the kids are exiting...

Not bad, not bad at all. Sort of a Ford Flex look and sort of looks French. Like something Peugeot would produce. Cool C pillar.

The DRL line is a zig zagging. Lol!

Sienna looks good too for a minivan! Nice comp in this class.
