PALO ALTO, Calif., July 02, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the second quarter, we produced over 82,000 vehicles and delivered approximately 90,650 vehicles.

While our main factory in Fremont was shut down for much of the quarter, we have successfully ramped production back to prior levels.

Our net income and cash flow results will be announced along with the rest of our financial performance when we announce Q2 earnings. Our delivery count should be viewed as slightly conservative, as we only count a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all paperwork is correct. Final numbers could vary by up to 0.5% or more. Tesla vehicle deliveries represent only one measure of the company’s financial performance and should not be relied on as an indicator of quarterly financial results, which depend on a variety of factors, including the cost of sales, foreign exchange movements and mix of directly leased vehicles.

Porsche Reports Second Quarter U.S. Retail Deliveries

Sales improve from pandemic shock, fall short of strong 2019 Q2

News provided by
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Jul 01, 2020, 12:47 ET
ATLANTA, July 1, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) today announced second quarter U.S. retail deliveries and a year-on-year decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. PCNA is the sole licensed importer and distributor of the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan model lines. Retail deliveries by the 192 independently owned and operated U.S. dealers totaled 12,192 from April through June. This was down 19.9 percent from an especially strong performance in Q2 2019, which was the first quarter in which PCNA delivered more than 5,000 vehicles per month for all three months.
The iconic Porsche 911 curbed the trend of the second quarter with an increase in deliveries compared to last year."May and June witnessed a rebound of customer demand from April, and record Certified Pre-Owned sales in June are another indicator of sustained passion for Porsche," said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA. "Our dealer partners have gone above and beyond and displayed a high level of agility to ensure customers' safety and mobility at a very challenging time."

Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. totaled 6,706 vehicles from April through June, up 8.1 percent year-over-year.

Volvo Cars reports global sales of 61,483 cars in June, returns to growth in US

Jul 02, 2020 ID: 269591GLOBAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Volvo Cars sold 61,483 cars in June, down 2.1 per cent compared with the same month last year, as sales in the US returned to growth and markets in China and Europe both continued their positive trends.

Swift actions taken by Volvo Cars to mitigate the impact of the corona pandemic and keep plants open led to a limitation of the number of non-production days at our Swedish Torslanda plant to 15, well below the industry average, meaning the company is now well placed to cater to the rapid recovery in demand.

Online initiatives, like the quick launch of Volvo Cars’ Stay Home Store, also contributed to the rebound.

In the first six months, Volvo Cars sold 269,962 cars, down 20.8 per cent compared with the same period last year.

US sales in June stood at 10,385 cars, up 4.5 per cent per cent compared with the same month last year as sales bounced back strongly as states started to open up. In the first six months, US sales declined by 13.7 per cent to 43,255 cars, compared with the same period last year.

In China, sales continued to grow year-on-year during the month and reached 15,105 cars, up 14.1 per cent compared with June last year. In the first six months of the year, sales declined by 3.0 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Sales in Europe during the month of June continued to show signs of recovery compared with the previous month as more countries in the region started to open up.

Volvo Cars’ sales in Europe reached 28,277 cars in June, down 6.5 per cent versus the same month last year. In the the first six months of the year, sales declined by 29.5 per cent year-on-year.

In June, the XC60 mid-size SUV was the top selling model for the company, followed by the XC40 compact SUV and the XC90 large SUV. During the month, SUVs accounted for 71.2 per cent of the company’s total sales, up from 60.0 per cent in same month last year.

The share of Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up of chargeable Volvo models more than doubled in the first six months, compared with the same period last year. Recharge is the overarching brandname for all chargeable Volvo models with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Default The Rolls-Royce Dawn leads this month's list of discounts

The Rolls-Royce Dawn leads this month's list of the largest monetary discounts with an average of $14,733 taken off the machine's $359,250 sticker price. That means buyers are paying an average transaction price of $344,517 for the 2020 Rolls-Royce Dawn this month, according to data provided to Autoblog by TrueCar.

An intriguing pair of supercars land in second and third positions this month. The 2019 Acura NSX is selling for an average of $145,174 this month, which represents a 9% discount, or $14,373. With an eerily similar 9% discount of $14,079 comes the 2020 Aston Martin Vantage, which has an average transaction price of $142,002 this month. The Maserati Quattroporte is up next with an average discount of $13,634.

Another Rolls-Royce model lands in the fifth spot, but instead of the aging Dawn it's the brand-new Cullinan SUV. Although the luxury 'ute boasts a large discount of $12,427, its staggeringly high retail price of $332,750 means buyers are getting a little less than 4% off the sticker. More interesting to most buyers will be the 2019 Lincoln Navigator, which is one of our favorite full-size SUVs in America. Buyers of Lincoln's range-topping vehicle are getting average discounts of $11,761. That represents a 13.4% savings for a final price of $75,940.

They seem to have distributed an overall summary and model number sales to statistic websites and the media (36% down in the quarter) however a quarter press release is missing.

There have been a number of articles about many manufactures shifting to quarterly reporting and dumping monthly including Toyota, Ford, GM, Fiat Chrysler, Audi, BMW, Nissan, Porsche and Volkswagen but I guess June numbers should be end of quarter, right?

Until Further notice I suppose this is the short and simple
Toyota's U.S. sales fell 29 percent to 127,590 in June, and Lexus volume dropped 10 percent to 20,690, as tight supplies and reduced fleet shipments hampered efforts to recover from the COVID-19 shutdown. In the second quarter, Toyota volume slumped 36 percent to 347,573, and Lexus sales dropped 27 percent to 50,456.

Brands: Toyota down 29% in June, off 36% in Q2; Lexus down 10% in June, down 27% in Q2

Notable nameplates: Toyota Camry down 43% in June, off 48% in Q2; Corolla down 48% in June, off 46% in Q2; RAV4 down 13% in June, down 27% in Q2; Tacoma down 41% in June, off 20% in Q2; Lexus ES down 21% in June, off 38% in Q2; RX down 23% in June, down 35% in Q2

Incentives: $2,746 per vehicle, up 13% from June 2019, ALG says.

Average transaction price: $34,411 in June, up 3.6% from a year earlier, according to ALG.

Mercedes Boosts Sales Lead Over BMW, Lexus At Halfway Mark

The race for luxury automaker supremacy in the U.S. is still on.

In 2019, Mercedes-Benz took a hit and its 3-year streak as the top luxury automaker in terms of sales in the U.S. was ended by its German archrival, BMW.

However, it looks like the 3-Pointed Star is looking to take the crown back from Bavaria with a commanding lead in the recent sales charts. According to Automotive News, quarterly sales reports from luxury brands have already come in, except for Jaguar Land Rover.

With the numbers in, Mercedes has widened its lead over BMW, picking up from a strong start in Q1 2020.

Gallery: 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE53 Coupe: First Drive

127 PhotosBack in April 2020, Mercedes reported 67,746 units sold in the U.S., excluding the vans, while BMW sold 59,455 vehicles. In Q2 2020, the Stuttgart-based automaker tallied another lead over BMW at 59,461 Mercedes units sold versus 50,957 BMW cars sold. This ballooned Mercedes' lead over BMW by as much as 16,795 units at the halfway mark of the year.

To nobody's surprise, Mercedes' cash cow for Q2 2020 is its lineup of
crossovers/SUVs. The GLE-Class led the charts with 9,500 units sold, followed closely by the GLC-Class with 9,461 deliveries. The E Class remains as the best-selling non-SUV/crossover model in the MB range with 6,857 units sold in Q2 2020.

Sales Reports Are Coming In:

Ranger Sales Are Beating Colorado, But Both Are Behind This Truck
Chevy Silverado Beats Ram In Truck Sales Through First Half Of Year
Chevy Camaro Sales Tank Nearly 50 Percent Last Quarter
Used Car Sales Surged In May Despite Coronavirus: Report Behind BMW, Lexus follows closely in Q2 2020 sales race with 50,456 units sold. Tesla ranks fourth with 36,800 units delivered, while Audi concludes the top five for the U.S. market 34,843 sold units.

As expected, sales numbers were down for the first half of 2020, primarily because of the
coronavirus pandemic that struck and still wreaking havoc in the country.
