I have no clue, but I think this is a Bronco testing on a Ranger body. During a Ford presentation this was shown, so I still think the above mule is just a Bronco in Ranger guise

The official Ford Teaser of the Baby Bronco

This was the first speculation-shot back when the 2020 Bronco was first announced, and, IMO, is what Ford should have put into production. It looks like a true Bronco, with classic lines.

I agree with both BrettJacks and Hoovey...that test-mule under wraps is awful. Let's hope that's not the final-spec version.

This thing is so hideous that I'm certain it can't be the actual body. It's literally a Ranger supercab with the bed chopped down and the rear axle moved forward.

If I had to guess, this is a chassis test mule and that they just used a Ranger body cut down to fit. Either to hide the actual design or because they haven't finalized it yet. There's no way it won't be a full 4 door anyway....right?

I need some hope here lol.

Umm.... ew.

I love this prototype (reminds me of the K5 vs S10 discussion as to what people think "Blazer" means....NO ONE thinks "Blazer II" here).

But--this is a real niche vehicle. How many 2-door SUVs will Ford really sell? The Toyota FJ was cool too, but no on wanted it.

Don't worry, it's just a mule. None of that body is really the new Bronco.

Default Ford (Baby) Bronco Scout spotted testing

Ford's own publicized crossover strategy indicates it will have two compact crossovers in the future. One will be "urban/sleek" – the 2020 Ford Escape – and the other "off-road/rugged," which would presumably be this.

Wonder if it'll have the same powertrain options as the Escape and MKC/Corsair

Hope it makes Toyota considering building the FT-4X Concept

Even considering the two extra doors, it looks roughly the same shape and size as the original 1Gen 60s-vintage Bronco.

Default Ford 'Baby' Bronco spied

the Baby Bronco has fully-independent suspension front and rear. The positioning of the coil springs on the front shock leads us to believe it uses MacPherson struts. In the back, it looks like it uses a multi-link suspension, or possibly a double-wishbone setup. There isn't a spring around the rear shock, so it's likely placed somewhere between the control arms. As for the tires, they're 225/65R17 Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires, an all-terrain tire for light trucks and SUVs.

Ha. Even with the bra and body-tape still attached, it looks 1000% better than Chevy's Blazer....and maybe 100% over the smaller TrailBlazer.

IMO, it would look still better with two doors instead of four, but I understand the tendency of today's SUVs to be more family-oriented, even in this class.

We'll see for sure, but I have a strong hunch that GM is going to get its butt kicked when the Broncos are introduced. Even now, they can't sell the Blazer without big incentives.

What is so great about his Bronco over a Blazer? I thought it was body on frame, but from the pics I think this looks unibody.

Well, to start, it actually looks like a Bronco. The Blazer looks like something maybe one step away from a Pontiac Aztec. The smaller Trailblazer isn't quite as ugly, but still is not in the same class as the Baby Bronco on looks.

The upcoming Bronco will be based off the Ranger BOF. This little guy most likely called the Bronco Scout (as the name was trademarked earlier) is unibody. Basically the Escapes more rugged twin, aimed at the Jeep Renegade.

I agree with your analysis here. It looks maybe a hair smaller than the Escape....somewhere between the Escape and Renegade in size. The Renegade, of course, is also unibody.....essentially a redone Fiat 500X.

Here's another rear-end shot, with (apparently) a slightly different set of wheels.
