I might be an outlier, but all I see is a gussied up Toyota FJ...
Is that a bad thing? I bought the FJ the first year it came out and this thing checks a lot of great boxes. I think it's a good blend of retro and tech modern. If Toyota brought out an updated FJ today, it would have to compete against the likes of the Wrangler and Bronco, and there's quite a bit of new development and capability shown on this Bronco. Hydraulic sway bar disconnect is just one of many interesting features.
^^^^^ Some of those list prices look a little steep, especially on the upper-trim models. With projected demand, though, Ford may only be charging what the market will bear.
It may top out higher than a Wrangler, but you can get a Wrangler into the high $50k range.

Actually a Rubicon with all the options ticked (but none of what I would consider "Accessories") comes to over $66k. So significantly more than the fully-optioned Launch Edition.
The front end looks goofy. I think the unibody sport is nicer....haven't looked at the interiors....people who want a Jeep will still buy their Jeeps, and Toyota 4Runner fans will not switch over to a Ford. Ford fans who find the Raptor as too expensive might bite.
Here are just a few I was able to grab today. Loved the presence and stance. Interior was super pre-production, so a lot of unfinished/ungrained plastics, so can't really judge that yet, and wasn't able to drive it either.
On paper and aesthetically I think Ford has done a remarkable job with this, Hope they can get through to a solid launch.
So Ford went to all the trouble and expense to create a bespoke manual transmission with a dedicated crawler gear for hardcore off-roading; but they don't think the same people who would be excited about that would want the bigger tires, front and rear lockers, and upgraded shocks? For, you know, off-roading?

people wanting a manual transmission (all 2% of them lol) won't need no steenkin' gimmicks to help them crawl over rocks.
I think this will be a home run for Ford. It's all going to depend on what they can produce and get to market however. CoVid is going to F things up for sure. I really think they are making the smart move of having a manual option. Most off roaders prefer that for sure. Would have been nice to get the 7 speed with the V6, but maybe the trans can't handle the power? I really hope if sales are strong they consider to add some other engine options. I think they would sell REALLY well with the small power stroke and a manual. Or, how about the Coyote 5.0 V8 and a stick. That would be even better!
