^^^ Useless 800 pounds?

Half of that weight will probably be in the driver's seat.

Quick First Look from the vehicle we saw here in DC this week! The size, stance and proportion all look terrific in person. Excited to drive it!

Default 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition production run doubled

And it's still sold out

On the same night the 2021 Ford Bronco was revealed and the reservation site launched, the one-year-only First Edition sold out. That was 3,500 vehicles reserved in one evening. Obviously demand was high, so Ford saw fit to go ahead and double production of the First Edition. However, it's still sold out.

The announcement arrived in a message to reservation holders, and was shared on the internet at places such as online forum Bronco6G. Interestingly, the message notes that anyone who had reserved a First Edition Bronco could cancel the reservation if they wanted now that there will be more. Somehow we doubt the dip in exclusivity is going to dissuade reservation holders.

As for being sold out, still, that came to us from Ford, which confirmed the increase in production. Apparently every two-door and four-door Bronco First Edition reservation is filled. So if you didn't reserve one earlier and want one, be ready to scour dealers when the deliveries go out. And if you end up buying one that was reserved by a dealer, prepare for a hefty price tag. The cheapest two-door First Edition starts at $60,800, and the four-door starts at $64,995. And any dealer with one to sell will probably be asking more than MSRP for it.

$65K for a 4 door first edition bronco?

but 'doubling' the run to 7k is hardly big volume.

I agree with bit that 65 is too much. Most likely, the First Edition models will probably not sell very well, unless they are discounted. But I see less-expensive versions doing very well....with or without price markups, as long as the markups aren't too steep or greedy.

But that quote above says reservations are sold out. Ford will have no problem finding 7000 customers to pay full price.

Have you read any of the news or articles?? The First Edition is already spoken for, even with a doubled allocation. There doesn't seem to be any issue with demand for the First Edition. While 65 might seem a bit high for you, they've already found their future prospective homes.

I'm not doubting your word, but that still doesn't make it any less surprising. Would YOU pay 65K (or more) for a Bronco...maybe more? Pardon me if I'm taking a liberty by saying this, but I don't think so.

You also may have partly misunderstood me....or, maybe I could have phrased my earlier reply a little more clearly. What I was trying to say is that 7K production for the First Edition, for obvious reasons, is probably not much compared to what the rest of the Bronco lineup will sell....in that regard, bitkahuna is correct.

Also interesting that Ford can use the same designation (First Edition) that Land Rover uses for some versions of the Defender.

Not sure why this is so shocking. It includes literally every single option possible on any other model, plus a few bespoke bits. The closest configuration of a Wrangler I can get to the Bronco "First Edition" is a 4-door Rubicon optioned up to $65,820. But it still doesn't have 35" tires, beadlock wheels, or an electronic transfer case.

obviously i'm out of touch with the prices of ugly off road vehicles.

could probably buy a 1 yr old LS500 for that money. not as good off road though. maybe a 2 yr old LX570?

I wouldn’t bite on the first year Bronco model. Sure it’s hot and popular as hell but so was the Supra. And what happened just one year later? Toyota gave the 2021 Supra major upgrades which left many 2020 owners sour. And aside from the first years gremlins I’m more annoyed at the greedy dealerships with those insane markups. I’ll let the early adopters take a bite before going anywhere near the Bronco.
