I hope the Bronco is a success and turns out to be a reliable vehicle. I never went the wrangler route due to reliability concerns. I would love to see a bronco in my driveway in a few years
I am with MM. I think it would fascinating to see if there is a market for body on frame Blazer or even better…if Chevy made a 2door Tahoe and called it a K5 Blazer. I think this new bronco, although a little goofy looking is going to be a smash it for Ford
I saw what must have been a pre-production test model of the regular bronco up on Mount Charleston a couple months ago(about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas). It was a yellow 4-door with the top removed. Looked great. Can't wait to start seeing these things everywhere.
Good that you yourself are coming around to this point of view. In the past, you and some other posters have criticized me for (supposedly) over-praising the Bronco and Bronco Sport, especially in comparison to what GM did with the Blazer.
i did not praise them, i said they are highly praised. i'm not a fan of either.
Also, keep in mind (although you are probably already aware of this, so it may go without saying) that the Bronco is a real truck-based/BOF/off-roader, whereas the Bronco Sport is a modified crossover from the Escape platform.
Also seeing several Bronco Sports on the road and they are tiny. Not the size I had envisioned nor a size that appeals to me. I think Ford would have been better off making this the Escape (size) and the regular Bronco a tick bigger. Everything is one size too small, at least where the core market is at.
about bronco sport size... it's 172in long, so only 6" longer than the pretty small 2 door jeep wrangler (166in) and a whopping 16" shorter than a 4 door wrangler at 188in.
After the race, the man driving the GT500 tells the woman who was behind the wheel of the Bronco that "Shelby should do something with that," pointing to the SUV. She replies "that's a great idea." While this might look like a marketing stunt, there's a hidden message. The man is Gary Patterson, the CEO of Shelby American. The woman is Shelby Hall, a professional race car driver. Viewed in this light, it sounds like a Shelby Bronco is on its way.
