The C-, E- and S-Class two-doors could be on the chopping block

Mercedes-Benz is looking to save some cash by axing approximately seven versions of its low-roof vehicles, according to Automotive News. This came from a dealer meeting with USA CEO Nicholas Sparks in late June. He didn’t say what vehicles would be cut, but the S-, C- and E-Class coupes and convertibles could be the first to go.
As much as we love two-doors, luxury car sales declined 37 percent in the past five years while luxury crossovers went up 73 percent. Mercedes is in the business of selling cars, not keeping the few remaining coupe fans happy.
"Do we need all the products that we currently have?" Speeks told Automotive News in May. "We also have to play our part in cutting our costs to meet our means."
This makes sense considering the global push for EVs, and Mercedes has several upcoming. AN reports that this could lead to the killing of entire engine platforms and families. You can pry your 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from my cold, dead hands…as soon as I make enough money to buy one.
At the same time, Mercedes is also taking car production out of North America to free up space for popular and profitable crossovers and SUVs. This year the Mercedes-Benz GLC and GLE crossovers both outsold its most popular sedan, the C-Class, 3 to 2. C-Class production is relocating to Germany, South Africa and China while the A-Class is leaving its production facility in Mexico.
"There's just not that many customers who are looking for a $150,000 convertible," said Gates, referring to the S-Class convertible. "Are there customers for coupe and cabs from time to time? Sure. But we still have plenty of great products to sell to them and we can find something that's going to fit their needs,” a Mercedes dealer told AN.
We've reached out to Mercedes for confirmation and will update if we hear back.
The small SLC convertible, formerly the SLK, was discontinued in April as well. If you want a Mercedes-Benz with two doors, you better get yourself to a dealership soon.

Would be a real shame, but likely makes sense.

MB has soooo many models. But thats what I have grown to like about the brand. The variety is insane. They legit have something for everyone, from sub entry level luxury models to Exotics and Rolls Royce competitors.
Watch these models get replaced with more SUV's. smh.
C,E,S-class coupes are 6 models right there. Throw in the CLS, you have 7.

Strongly agree with this too. No love lost if the CLS is removed from the lineup. Id actually miss the other models. Before there was a C and E coupe/convertible there was a CLK-coupe that was supposed to fill in both markets. WOuld be nice if they at least went back to that instead. Never liked the S-class convertible idea, but the S-class coupe, i mean come on. How can they get rid of that (regardless of the business sense)?!?!
