Default Summer of Driving

Here are couple of things I did this summer:

Early August, together with a couple of my friends I did the Mazda Rev It Up event. I really recommend this to anyone. For a very small fee($40), we got to drive as fast as we can. They gave us a chance to abuse their cars in different practice courses(turning, braking, slalom) before going for our timed run. I believe they will hold it again next year. Just keep an eye for it.

And last week with the same set of friends, we went to a BF Goodrich sponsored event called Kick the Asphalt. I bought tires from them and they sent me an invitation. I had to sign up my friends. When we got to the event, we found out anyone with a valid drivers license could have signed up on the spot. If I knew this, I would have let my fellow CL member know about it.

The IS was better than I thought. Nice little zippy car. But the 350Z was the car to drive.

Both events were great. The Mazda is more of a learning experience and the BF Goodrich is more of a "here are our cars, now go abuse the crap out of it"

The 1.8t Jetta sucked you open full throttle and you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait until the Turbo kick in and by the time it does the turn is coming up already and you have to slam on the brakes already.

The IS3 handled very well. It felt very balanced...but more power would be nice

The 350Z is a MONSTER. You go full throttle and before you know it, you have to slam on the brakes 'cause the turn is coming fast at you. It's *almost* no fun driving the Z. It has so much power, you have to make sure you don't build up too much speed.

The H2 has incredible offroad capabilities. The road that we took the H2 on would have probably eat up most SUVs on the road.

After driving the Z, the G35 coupe is beginning to look real good.
