Why would dealership request image of VIN/certificate label after repair?
I own a 2014 ES350 that I bought CPO in 2017, and I took the extended maintenance and warranty packages.
I took the car in for its regular periodic maintenance, and they discovered a cracked CV boot which was repaired under the extended warranty coverage.
Last night, my service advisor texted and said he needs a picture of my VIN / certification plate inside the driver-side door. This sounds unusual, and I want to know if this a common request these days?
What kind of information would there be on the plate that is not already associated with the VIN in the Lexus database?
Thanks!

It was warranty repair-related. Lexus Financial wanted verification that the car that was serviced was the one covered by the agreement. The SA said the request from LFS after the authorization/repair was done was unusual.
