that was my point precisely. Toyota made a very advance non turbo 4 cylinder engine for fuel efficiency. By itself is a crap sole power train that doesn’t belong in a Lexus.
the only acceptable use of the engine is with the hybrid drive, which you have it in a 300h and people can live with it.
yes there might be other markets with the es250, but they are emerging markets like China where people don’t know much about what Lexus refinement should be.

Hence the ES250 suits them.
Over there, I remember Camries being 2.0 etc.

I'm still scratching my head as to how Toyota only came up with 2 engine NA 4 cylinder engines in the last decade that are so behind the times. Both DF 2L and 2.5L 4cyl would have been great maybe 5yrs ago but today is down on power, refinement and efficiency isnt all that big of a leap.
