Smile Plug In Hybrid RX 450h?

I see in the newspaper that Toyota RAV4 has come out with a 2021 RAV4 plug in hybrid (similar to the Prius plug in hybrid). Is the Lexus RX 450h next and when? Batteries weigh 850# and fully charged will drive the RAV4hp for 42 miles on electric mode only.

I've read that the next RX re-design will be built on the current RAV4 platform, which is geared towards hybrid / electric. I would expect an electric version of the next RX generation. Probably 2023 / 2024 is my guess. Lexus has also announced the LQ, but I believe that will be the next level up in luxury, over the RX.

No one really knows unless you’re the one in charge of developing it.

The RX platform is not designed to carry large battery packs.

The direction Lexus is going eventually the RX will have a plug-in hybrid version but the NX is scheduled in the 2022 model. It will be the same 300 horsepower 42 mile range that is in the current RAV4 plug-in hybrid. The RAV4 is the most popular selling non pick-up truck model. They will not be able to keep them on the lot. The NX will be four inches longer then the current model which it needs. I will be one of the first in line. Will come with a $7,500 federal tax credit. Comparing a RAV4 hybrid with a plug-in version with the tax credit and comparable options the plug-in becomes the no brainer.

Lexus will do very well with their gen NX and RX models. I think there will be one model above the RX and it will be LS caliber/segment area. A gas, hybrid and a plug-in puts Lexus in a very enviable position. (I am sure there will be some EV models available for world makers like the new UX-EV)

NX will also be made in Canada as well
