sequential turn signals
#46
i have a friend who is colorblind and cannot distinguish red from green which is common. so this would sound like there would be a problem with traffic lights, but no! he says he can tell which is red and green by the intensity of the light, and at times also the position of the light. he drives just fine and i wasn't aware he was colorblind for years!
i was mistaken, only the CX-30 has the dimming signals, not the mazda 3!
I didn't realize the dimming signals were on the Mazda3, I thought it was something that debuted on the CX-30. I liked it a lot when I first saw it - I thought it was a nice little premium-style touch.
WRT sequential LED signals, I think they're trendy, and I like them. They look great on the Audi and the T-bird. With that said, sometimes they are not executed well (IMO). For example, on the Accord shown above, the turn signal in the headlight appears to be out of time with the turn signal in the side mirror. I'm also not a fan of the way they were done on the Avalon.
I have installed aftermarket sequential LED turn signals in the side mirrors of my Mazda CX-9, which previously had the standard LED lighting, and I think it turned out ok (skip towards the end of the video):
I have another video on my channel but it's a little shakey. I just wanted to do something to create a little more individuality.

as for the color of signal lights, yes i prefer to see amber for signal and am fully aware many american OEMs still use red. some germans also use red for a signal. the corvettes in europe need to have amber signals to meet the country's regs. now i wonder what audis with all red tail lights have in europe?

The color of the signal doesn't bother me the way it seems to bother some. I can easily identify a flashing light as a turn signal, whether it's red or amber. Plus, with the red signals on the back, you can often also see the flasher on the side or mirror at the same time, which I believe is always amber.
My Highlander and GS both have amber rear turn signals, and my Tacoma is red. Thus far I haven't had any issues in Tacoma where someone mistook my red flasher for me pumping the brakes or whatever. It's a non-issue for me.

Because nobody has plowed into the back of him lol
I have never mistaken anybody's red flashers for pumping the brakes. I personally don't think this is an issue.

point taken about the red flashers, but what would you say if it's proven that amber lights are more distinguishable and thus safer? arbitrary question, there really isn't such as study (that i am aware of).
this is leading me to another related subject on flashing 3rd brake lights, but that's for another thread.

No signals were on in the case of my car...I was in a drive thru.
And my turn signals are amber!

I love the fact that my g90 rear lights don't have any amber.
