But you are not typical in many ways lol

The white Bronco will always be a part of Americana

Its not that “people care”, it’s not a negative association. I wouldn’t not buy a Bronco because of it.

the OJ saga was 26 years ago. it was brought back into focus some, recently (including to younger people who didn't know OJ or what happened) by the popular recreation series on tv (netflix?).

either way, it will have no relevance on the ford bronco, plus i've no idea what this has to do with the porsche panamera.

I generally don't discuss Netflix, as I'm not a part of it, don't stream movies except for Youtube videos, and, to be honest, don't know or care much about it.

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing about the thread and the Bronco, but you just beat me to it.

It certainly wont have any impact on the new Ford Bronco.

When I think of Ford the first thing that comes to mind is Pinto.

The Panamera is the ugliest car on the road. I don't know why Porsche builds them, they don't sell well.

I think you're looking at this as an enthusiast with vast car knowledge and aren't thinking about it as a regular consumer who is not a car enthusiast. Bear in mind, a lot of these people aren't going to notice the difference between a 911 and a 718.

There is absolutely more demand for Macans and Cayennes and Panamera than 911s. You posted the sales numbers, they show that. Those consumers are more likely to walk into a dealership and buy one off the lot than a 911 consumer, it makes sense why there is more stock than there is of 911s. My question was solely, do laypeople really think of the 911 when they think of Porsche now or do they think of their SUVs?

As for Ford, even I don't think of the Mustang when I think of Ford. It wouldn't be one of the top 3 models that pop into my head. I would think Explorer, F150, even Taurus before I think Mustang. Its a product of my generation and what Ford personifies to me.

Not sure why this makes you so angry.
Look up the sales #s i posted.

911 sell almost on par with Cayenne.
911 outsells Cayman, Boxster and Panamera.
Macan outsells 911 by 2 to 1 margin.

911 is about 3x the price of Macan and almost double the base Cayenne.
In any measurable way its sales #s are extremely impressive given its higher price not to mention its profitability.

Go on Porsche Facebook page or IG and tell me how many 911 posts there are compared to all other models. 911 is still by far what Porsche is about. A Macan is identifiable as a Porsche bec they made it look like 911, otherwise it would just be another SUV. The styling language of all Porsche models circles back to 911.

If there will Ever be a time when more ppl will know what a Cayenne is rather than a 911 then i will agree with you lol.

BTW just watched Bad Boys 3 again the other day. The first 5minutes of the movie is featuring the new 911. How many millions of ppl saw that?

THATS my point. When I asked her about the Mustang or the 911 she said she never would have thought of either of them.
My wife, 29, also not into cars at all, said Mustang and Macan. 1 out of 2! Obviously she is aware of Porsche sports cars but probably doesn't know them by name.

Sales figures don’t have anything to do with it. I’m talking about public perception of the brand.

.......and people here think I'm living in the past. LOL.

Just kidding, Lexus2000. Seriously, It's understandable that that scandal would still resonate with some people. Even notwithstanding Ralph Nader's public charges against GM in the 1960s, with the Corvair, the case against Ford and the Pinto's design was arguably the first time that an American auto manufacturer was charged, in court, with criminal-neglegence and manslaughter. Not surprisingly, a huge settlement was made.

I won't go into the details of the Pinto design because I'm sure you already know it.

It would probably be unusual if she did not recognize the Boxster name. Outside of the Cayenne, it probably did more than any other product to not only change the perception of the brand but make it more affordable to the masses.

ha ha Really! When you think Porsche you think 911 period! Porsche has been building 911 since 1963.

I know the dealership your talking about. I purchase my 981 GTS from Porsche of Tyson Corner, VA.
FYI..most Porsche dealers don't keep a lot of 911's and Cayman's on the lot. Porsche want you to purchase their sports cars new. Most of time when they come off lease that are purchase asap. If you would have took the time to go inside the dealership you would have seen their coupes.
Porsche of Arlington VA may have a few 911's on the lot.

The cars I saw on the lot were all new, not used. But, most people who get a 911 order them I agree.
